Connor
The car ride was hell.
Melanie was vibrating. Literally. Her knee bounced so hard the whole driver seat shook. She kept laughing at nothing, then slamming her hand on the steering wheel like she'd just remembered a joke.
"Should we get breakfast?" she said for the third time in ten minutes. "I'm starving. Like, starving starving. Egg breakfast. Full Scottish. Or maybe just toast. Do you want toast? Edward, you want toast?"
Edward was slumped against the window, one hand over his eyes. "Mel. I can barely open my eyes. I just watched my brother-in-law become a father. Let me sleep for one hour."
"You're wearing your shirt inside out, Con," Melanie added brightly, not looking at me. "And your pants. That's how tired we are. We should just go home. Nap. Then eat."
I looked down. She was right. My shirt was on backwards. My joggers were too. I rubbed my face. "Fine. Home. Then nap."
