Cardiff Castle looks like it was built by someone who got bored of normal houses and decided to just... add more.
Towers. Battlements. Stone walls that have definitely seen some things. Gray and ancient and slightly damp, which is the most Welsh thing about it.
We were all standing in the courtyard and I was trying very hard not to look like a tourist, even though I absolutely was a tourist.
"Right," Liam said, clapping his hands together like he was about to start a board meeting. "Tickets are on me. Audio guides if you want them. Toilets are to the left. Gift shop is a trap."
"Too late," Isla — Gran — said, already holding a tote bag from the gift shop. "I've bought three teapots and a magnet. Don't look at me like that, Edward. They were 40% off."
Hamish groaned. "We've not even been inside yet, Isla."
"And I won't need to go back in," she said smugly. "Efficiency."
