I stared out the window of the cottage for what felt like hours as I watched the sheep lazily graze across the hilly fields. It was the oddest sight but also felt so natural to see from the busy London streets I was so accustomed too. I knew I had grown up around farm lands but to be in the house where I lived was the strangest thing.
When Denny and I arrived with our grandparents, Isla and Hamish, I didn't know what to expect. Would Denny and I collapse under trauma, would I? Would I regret the choice of coming here or would we be overcome with emotions? I had all kinds of expectations in my head, all worse than the other, but I didn't expect to be relieved.
