"Oh Connor," she beamed when she finally stood in front of me. Macy had always been tiny but I must have grown a lot from when I was sixteen for her to reach below my chest. Melanie must have gotten her tall genes from Dad. "Look at you, you've grown up so much," tears already welled in her eyes which made me feel more uncomfortable.
I didn't know how to react to people's emotions. I was just starting to figure it out myself and I figured I should react the way Edward would have. Okay maybe not Edward but I had been spending a decent amount of time with Demyan and he wore his heart on his sleeve all the time.
Therefore I figured the best way to stop a crying fest was to give Macy a small smile and to cut the tension with a small joke. "Yeah puberty hit me quite a bit in the past few years."
