A young man with a ragged appearance, wearing worn-out clothes covered in grime and dust, walked cautiously over the ancient stones of a temple. His clothes were worn out, making him look like a vagrant, but the determined look in his eyes suggested that he had been through countless battles.
The temple stood like a relic of a civilisation; if he were in his own world, such a sight would be impossible. Huge blocks of stone formed a stepped structure that rose towards the grey sky, similar to the ancient temples of his other world. Each step was covered with cracks, dark moss and carved symbols that the passage of centuries had almost completely eroded.
On either side of the path, gigantic statues of beasts guarded the entrance. Impossible creatures: snakes with curved fangs, stone jaguars with open jaws, monstrous birds with wings spread as if about to launch themselves into attack.
Their empty eyes seemed to follow his every move.
Or at least, that's how he felt.
