3rd POV

"I'm home!" Georgie's voice echoed through the house. Hearing it, Missy ran to the entrance and saw her brother. "Brother! Why are you home so late?! What were you doing out there?" she asked before hugging him.

Georgie chuckled and ruffled her hair. "I just had a meeting. Turns out, we'll be performing at George S.'s event. I'm going to be super busy… hufft…" he sighed as he plopped onto the couch, exhausted from the long day.

After Rosie informed them that they would be the opening act for George S.'s concert, James and the others were ecstatic and practiced until late at night—of course, dragging Georgie along with them.

Rosie had hired a few additional musicians to support Georgie. Well, Georgie wasn't Ed Sheeran; naturally, he needed a band to accompany his singing.

The rest of the family couldn't believe what they had just heard. They rushed to the living room, where Georgie was now resting on the couch. Connie eyed him curiously, unable to suppress her excitement despite his exhaustion.

"Tell me you're not joking!" she pressed.

"Really? Are you actually gonna performing at George S.'s event?!" George asked, equally shocked.

"You know I don't like lying, Georgie. Are you seriously going to perform with George S.?!" Mary added, her eyes narrowing.

"Well, technically, I won't be performing with George S." Georgie clarified, and everyone sighed deeply, realizing they might have set their expectations too high. "I'll be the opening act for his concert. The main singer is still George S."

"..."

The room fell into silence. Wasn't this happening too fast for Georgie?! He hadn't even debuted yet, and now he was set to perform on the same stage as George S.!

"I can't believe it…" George muttered, staring at his son. "Are you telling the truth?!"

"Of course. I already asked Miss Rosie to get VIP tickets for you guys." Georgie reassured them.

"Who is George S.?" Sheldon asked from behind, completely unfamiliar with the name. Hell, he probably didn't know 95% of the popular singers these days.

"He's a famous country singer, Moonpie! Georgie is going to be the opening act for his concert!" Connie beamed with pride.

"My brother is going to be a superstar?!" Missy exclaimed excitedly.

Sheldon nodded, calculating. "Technically, if George S. is truly a famous singer, then statistically, your chances of gaining fame faster will increase—assuming, of course, that you manage to impress the audience."

"Brother will sing amazingly!" Missy shot back, gritting her teeth at Sheldon for even daring to doubt Georgie.

Mary and George exchanged glances. This was Georgie's first big moment—if he failed, everything could fall apart.

Georgie smiled, patting Missy's head. "Relax. That's why I'm going to be really busy practicing and writing songs. Plus, I'll be performing at bars and other venues first to sharpen my skills and make sure people in Houston know and accept us before the big show."

George let out a deep sigh, but Mary, upon hearing the word bar, immediately turned to Georgie. "No drinking alcohol there, okay?" she warned, though notably, she didn't forbid him from performing at bar.

Connie chuckled at Mary's reaction. She understood—after their previous conversation, it was clear that Mary was supporting Georgie now. "Come on, he's a teenager." Connie teased, nudging Mary.

Then she turned to Georgie. "EVERY teenager has had at least one beer, right?" she added with a knowing smirk.

"I haven't." Georgie replied, shrugging.

George shot him a skeptical look but let it go—after all, he had been young once too.

Connie chuckled. "I hope you won't be practicing late again tomorrow, because I'll be cooking my famous brisket."

"Sure." Georgie smirked, "as long as you're willing to share the recipe with Dad."

Connie's eyes darkened, staring at Georgie. "Over my dead body."

Hearing that, George's face twisted with frustration. He had been trying to get that recipe for 15 years, yet Connie still refused to share it.

Georgie shrugged and turned to his dad. "Sorry, Pops. I tried."

George's mouth twitched in annoyance, while Mary chuckled at the exchange.

Georgie's POV

When Rosie first announced that we'd be performing at George S.'s concert, I couldn't believe it. The only thought in my head was how strong her family's connections must be. She mentioned that her family owned several companies but hadn't ventured into the entertainment industry yet.

I figured Rosie was the outcast of her family for choosing to study music in college, but I never asked her about it. As long as she didn't bring it up, it wasn't my business. And as long as it didn't harm Luminous, I didn't care about her family background.

I was just glad to have such powerful backing.

"Georgie! Are you even listening to me?" Veronica's voice pulled me back to reality.

"Sorry, I was thinking about something. Could you repeat that?" I asked, kissing her forehead.

Veronica snuggled closer to me, then looked up. "Are you nervous about your Music?"

"Mostly, yes. But…" I smirked. "My Memaw is making brisket tonight. Want to have dinner with my family again?"

"I'd love to… but are you sure it's okay?" Veronica asked hesitantly.

I smiled. "I already introduced you as my girlfriend. I think Memaw likes you more than me at this point."

It was obvious that Memaw liked Veronica. Unlike my mom, Memaw had a wild spirit, but she was also a great judge of character. She had been observing Veronica ever since she started changing her personality, and in the end, she approved of her.

"Really? I'm not so sure about your mom, though…" Veronica admitted, looking at me.

"Mom is fine… She just thinks I'm too young to be dating—according to the Bible."

Veronica chuckled. Yeah, my mom was a bit skeptical about me having a girlfriend because I was still young and technically underage for dating. But I knew she meant well and didn't want me to make the same mistakes she did.

I understood about that, I am not a baby. But still, I loved my family, and I was proud of my dad for stepping up and taking responsibility instead of running away.

"Alright, I'll come." Veronica said, kissing me.

I pulled her into a tight hug, returning her kiss before pulling back to look at her. "My Memaw's brisket is insanely good. You might get addicted."

Veronica smirked, running her fingers over my lips. "...I think I might get addicted to something else instead."

"No more questions." I murmured before kissing her again.

Other students glanced our way, but I didn't care—neither did Veronica. As I kissed her, my eyes remained slightly open, catching sight of Janna clenching her teeth in Veronica's direction.

"Alright… I'm skipping practice today. James and the others can handle it. How about a date with me?" I said, pulling away from our kiss.

"Where are we going?" Veronica asked, her eyes bright with excitement.

"How about a music store? I want to browse some country records."

"Sure!" Veronica replied with a beaming smile. I wrapped my arms around her, sneaking another glance at Janna. She looked irritated and turned away, but not before throwing a glare in my direction.

"What are you looking at?" Veronica asked, trying to follow my gaze.

"Nothing," I said, kissing her again. "Just thinking about something."

"…Alright…" she murmured, though her expression remained curious.
