[Chapter Size: 2900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Novigrad.
...
...
Chaos. There was no longer any way to define what everyone was seeing above the city, while a silent pressure simply seemed to crush everyone that night.
First came the rain. Then, the strong wind. Next, the entire sky began to light up with lightning, until a true storm of it started falling everywhere inside and partially outside the city walls.
People began shouting and loudly questioning what was happening in the streets as they ran in search of any shelter.
"By the gods, I have never seen anything like this in my life..." Tissaia could not help but comment beside Triss and the others as they watched the changes in the air, with the pressure of chaos still crushing them somehow. It was unbelievable that someone could cast a spell of that magnitude. Until that night, she had thought no mortal could do something like that...
Madara watched beside Ciri while his clothes began to flutter as the wind struck them. He stood with his arms crossed, unable to be bothered by such an environment after everything.
Ciri was putting on quite a spectacle, and he decided to take a look at how the city was reacting to all of it as well. With a single hand seal, he began creating copies of himself made of wood before they advanced in every direction.
The windows were filled with curious gazes watching the sky with a certain terror. After all, everyone knew that the sudden storm was anything but ordinary, especially when it had appeared out of nowhere.
The people outside their homes were still fleeing, and even the beggars sought shelter immediately, especially as the thunder began to roar one after another without stopping, illuminating the entire city.
"I think we'd better go inside..." Dandelion commented with a nervous smile, and everyone nodded.
"Come on, let's get inside. I can barely breathe..." Triss murmured.
She did not hesitate to head into the mansion, unable to stop looking at the sky the entire time, as if admiring such immense power.
"So this is Ciri's power..." she murmured to herself, wondering what had happened over the last three years.
The entire resistance group outside the mansion returned inside due to the explosive sounds that were already becoming disturbing, with lightning striking everywhere, while the mansion's windows filled with curious onlookers who did not understand what was happening.
The atmospheric pressure and the sensation of chaos quickly drew the attention of that entire group of people, most of whom were sensitive to chaos energy.
Meanwhile, the wooden clones continued observing the chaos, advancing through the rain with lightning falling constantly. Even they had to dodge some of them, sensing their approach a little beforehand, because they knew it was practically impossible to escape them.
And as the lightning struck, it also caused fires. Some places began to burn, only to be extinguished soon after by the force of the rain. Others, however, were consumed by endless flames while people screamed in panic.
At the city entrance, the guards trembled in fear. There was no longer any sign of calm. "Close the gates!" some of them began to shout.
Anyone who was outside trying to return home would have to find somewhere else to take shelter, because not even the guards wanted to remain amidst that chaos.
Ciri stood there, her eyes glowing. While her arms remained outstretched, not a single drop of rain fell on her thanks to the barrier she had created.
Still controlling the spell, she began targeting specific locations. Then, a wave of lightning simply exploded directly over the square.
Lightning!
An explosion shocked the entire city.
A bolt of lightning so massive that it obliterated the square struck the ground and, with its explosive sound, shattered every window and pane of glass in houses within a five-hundred-meter radius of the impact point.
The entire city trembled.
Ciri was controlling everything. She also knew where to find people and used her ability to observe the future to identify places where no one was present. That way, she could destroy structures without harming innocents, doing so in the square without hurting anyone at that moment.
Madara and she witnessed the spectacle, just as anyone looking toward the center of the city at that instant did. Everyone could see the blue flash descending from the sky like a gigantic pillar of light.
Then came the explosion, and everyone in the city turned toward the place where the executions took place. The entire square had been devastated, with the shockwave shattering the city's windows and other glass structures immediately afterward.
Now there was only an enormous crater where the square had once been, along with destroyed shops and houses surrounding it. Not to mention the damage caused by the shockwave that spread throughout the city.
The sea also began to grow turbulent. Sailors abandoned their duties and ran from one side to the other, while many tried to take shelter or pray inside taverns.
The waves grew larger. Ships and boats were violently rocked as the sea became increasingly rough, creating waves that rose above the piers.
A massive wall of water crashed over the harbor, surging so high that it swept away people who were running through the area at that moment.
Water began flooding some taverns. People could only watch as a torrent burst through the doors, rushing into the establishments amid frightened screams and desperate attempts to find solutions.
Some structures even began to give way, with doors bursting open as water surged through the streets, reaching people's knees and sweeping many of them away.
At that moment, everyone was already searching for some divine explanation.
Ciri's eyes finally turned toward the Temple of the Eternal Fire. She kept her gaze fixed on it from afar while continuing to control the lightning.
The bolts stopped falling randomly. Now, they were striking directly upon the Temple of the Eternal Fire.
Despite the countless fires spread throughout the city, most of the people who managed to see where the lightning was being directed at that moment were completely shocked.
A true rain of lightning began striking the temple itself, proving that this was no ordinary storm.
"W-what is happening...?" one of Caleb Menge's men, wearing the uniform of the Witch Hunters unit inside the Witch Hunters' Headquarters itself, stammered as he spoke those words.
A large group of men stood by the windows, watching in fear, while others tried to bring things from outside indoors, as the rain and wind were creating complete chaos.
Fear was also gripping everyone there. Even Caleb Menge swallowed hard as he looked out through one of the windows of his home.
Caleb remembered very well what had happened yesterday, when he had lost a large number of men in the square and had nearly died because of sorceresses and dwarves.
What was happening that night seemed like a much larger version of the storm previously created by a few sorceresses, who had conjured a small cloud over the square with rain and lightning, despite causing considerable casualties...
But this... That night... This was beyond all comprehension. No sorceress could create such power.
In his mind, they were no longer dealing with someone using magic. They were facing the very force of nature itself.
And how could anyone compare themselves to something like this with that spell from yesterday?!
At the same time, one of Madara's clones descended directly into the Witch Hunters' Headquarters. While everyone was securing belongings and keeping their eyes fixed on the sky, he quickly entered through one of the entrances, moving in search of prisoners, since that place would soon be destroyed.
He ignored the fear-stricken men and their comments. They shared the same thoughts as their leader. Although they associated the current storm with the one that had occurred during Dudu's execution, they did not believe that a mortal could conjure something of such magnitude.
Passing by everyone unseen, Madara reached the prison cells. There, he found sorceresses and all kinds of people. There were even individuals who had no connection to magic whatsoever.
As he investigated using the Sharingan, he saw everything that had happened there. The prisoners had endured every kind of torture and abuse.
Especially the women. Many of them had been raped by the guards themselves while they were vulnerable during interrogations. No one could do anything for them. After all, they were accused of witchcraft and would soon be executed. Even though some knew they were not sorceresses after all, no one cared about them once the verdict had been passed. There would never be justice.
Madara grabbed one person after another and began teleporting them. He would appear in the middle of the resistance mansion, where he had marked a Hiraishin symbol simply by stepping on the floor.
Whenever he appeared with two or three people, he would say, "Take care of them."
Tissaia, Triss, Zoltan, and the others were not surprised, but the other people present watched in confusion, unable to understand how he arrived so quickly with such a subtle teleportation.
Then he disappeared again. And reappeared with more prisoners.
Madara managed to rescue around thirty people and also took one more prisoner before disappearing once again. This time, he went to an isolated corner and dispelled the wooden clone, its body falling to the ground as nothing more than a piece of wood.
The clone then transmitted all the memories it had obtained to the original Madara standing beside Ciri, allowing him to fully understand everything that had happened in that place.
"Can you open a portal above the Witch Hunters' Headquarters for me?" Madara asked his wife.
Ciri, still focused on controlling the lightning, nodded. An almost invisible portal began to appear above the building. At the same time, another portal appeared in front of Madara.
He performed a hand seal. Filling his lungs, he then expelled a gigantic torrent of flames mixed with the wind element directly into the portal. All of its raw power entered it.
At that very instant, the flames emerged from the portal opened above the headquarters.
The fire appeared wrapped in spiraling wind currents, forming a massive fire hurricane that plummeted from the sky. The men below did not even have time to react when they saw a red light descending upon them.
Even Madara and Ciri could observe from a distance as the flames spread like an incandescent cyclone falling from the heavens, but not far from the city, no one could see the portal.
The attack struck the headquarters directly. With the exception of the commander himself, who was the enemy captured by Madara.
That was the place where Dudu used to work and had eventually become the headquarters of the witch hunters. At the moment of impact, the roof simply collapsed.
The flames advanced without the slightest mercy, consuming every man inside. The fire itself was not the only threat; Madara had added wind to the jutsu, causing the flames to rotate together with the wind, creating a gigantic fire drill.
It pierced through anything with ease. Walls, beams, and floors were destroyed as the attack pushed deeper and deeper.
When it could no longer continue drilling into the ground, the technique exploded, destroying the walls while reaching even nearby houses. A wave of fire was launched in every direction, consuming everything around it and swallowing anyone still inside or outside the building.
Now, those red flames that continued to spin created a striking contrast on that night of violent storms. While the sky was dominated by black clouds and relentless lightning, a single point in the city shone intensely because of the fire.
Madara turned his attention toward the temple. The lightning continued to strike there.
Everyone who had been outside had begun fleeing at the start of the storm, while those who had sought shelter inside the temple soon regretted that decision.
Now the entire place trembled. Lightning struck the roof without pause, setting parts of the structure ablaze. Other bolts pierced through the damaged ceiling and penetrated directly into the interior of the building, causing sections of the roof to collapse as well.
Young people, women, priests, and even the High Priest were living through absolute chaos.
"Run! We need to get out of here!" the man shouted, trying to guide the people outside.
Most of the stained-glass windows had already been destroyed by the impacts. Soon, the massive temple doors were opened, and a crowd began to flee in panic while the lightning continued striking the structure and destroying increasingly larger portions of the building.
Ciri could also observe everything from a distance. She did not want anyone to be left behind and did not strike anyone with the lightning.
Even from two or three kilometers away, Ciri could locate people hiding in different parts of the temple, as they had been unable to run outside with the others.
They were completely paralyzed by fear in the face of what the sky was unleashing.
Then she began to use her magic. A green energy enveloped those people. The next instant, they vanished, and Ciri teleported them to safe locations outside the temple.
On this night, using magic in such a way would make her a true beacon for any remnants of the Wild Hunt.
But at that moment, she no longer feared anything. If she were the original Ciri, she would be running for her life in this very timeline.
Trying to escape, trying to hide.
But this one was different; she now possessed enough power to shape the world. If Madara did not exist, no one would be capable of defeating her.
And she was satisfied with that. After all, she had gained enough strength to stand beside him as an equal.
The remnants of the Wild Hunt could come, kings could come, armies could come, or any other threat. No one would ever lay a hand on her again.
And above all, no one would touch her family.
That was when the temple began to empty. With Ciri teleporting everyone who still remained inside to safety, and the rest fleeing through the gates, she looked at Madara, who could now make his grand move.
Madara nodded as his eyes became the Rinnegan. A purple lightning bolt shone in his hand like Chidori, and the entire sky changed in the next moment.
All the lightning began rushing toward that direction, being drawn into a single point from the entire storm.
"Now it's my turn." Madara said, his hand wrapped in lightning, when a roar came from that point in the sky the very next instant.
The entire city heard the roar of a dragon.
A flash appeared immediately afterward, and the actual head of a dragon made of purple lightning emerged from the black clouds.
Madara raised his lightning-covered hand before bringing his arm down like a sentence being delivered. In the next moment, the dragon surged downward, no longer as blue lightning, but purple.
He took the gigantic concentration of electrical energy that Ciri had created and brought it crashing down upon the temple. The glow was so intense that it blinded anyone who was looking.
The light traveled faster than sound, so everyone saw the pillar of purple light first; the sonic explosion came afterward.
A devastating shockwave surged in all directions, sweeping across the city and reaching even the sea. Every remaining window shattered.
The shockwave traveled throughout all of Novigrad.
And then came the main explosion. A colossal boom echoed across the horizon.
Even after the impact, several secondary shockwaves continued to be heard one after another.
When everything finally began to calm down, it became possible to see the result.
The temple itself was collapsing and crumbling apart. Madara had managed to separate the entire area where it stood.
The temple was not exactly integrated with the rest of the city. It occupied a massive elevated rock formation, where mansions and residences belonging to the wealthiest people were also located. A bridge connected the area to the city.
And now that entire formation had been severed in one section, with everything around the temple cracking apart.
The very foundation supporting the section where the temple stood had simply disappeared without damaging the rest.
The temple's High Priest could not believe what he was seeing.
The temple.
That entire area... Everything was collapsing directly toward the sea.
Gigantic boulders broke away from the rock formation.
All the pride of the region had been destroyed just like that... The structure, already devastated by the lightning strike, was being completely destroyed as it slowly sank while crashing into the sea.
People could only watch from every angle from which they could see it...
No one could speak.
No one could understand.
It was like watching a mountain collapse.
The impact against the ocean still sent towering columns of water into the sky. And a new wave immediately formed, spreading along the coast as debris, rocks, and fragments of the former temple disappeared beneath the turbulent waters.
That night, faced with such a terrifying spectacle, no one believed they were witnessing a simple storm anymore.
It seemed as though the gods themselves had decided to punish Novigrad.
