Chapter 238 - Chapter 238 - The Banquet of Skellige 02.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Skellige.

...

...

An intense gaze was felt upon Madara the moment he sat down. He searched the hall, but from where he was, he couldn't see who was staring at him so intently.

Ciri adjusted her dress to sit beside Madara, keeping her arms wrapped around his as she looked at everyone in front of her.

Yennefer gave the two a smile, while Geralt kept a serious gaze. Zoltan was drinking and smiling at them, and Dandelion was just about to start talking—or singing... Crach was also occupying the table with his two sons at his side; he nodded toward them with a satisfied motion, and both sons were also staring at them.

Hjalmar wasn't looking at them; he seemed to avert his gaze, as if Madara had slapped him so hard he was now afraid. But Cerys seemed like a problem in Ciri's eyes when she saw the woman simply glance at Madara and press her lips together. That made her squeeze her arms even tighter around her future husband.

Madara looked at her with a raised eyebrow due to the sudden grip, while Ciri blushed slightly upon realizing how she had acted.

"I'm seeing everyone's in high spirits!" Dandelion said with a smile. "I hope I can feature you two in one of my romantic ballads... I'm sensing a new hit song." Dandelion began like a poet, while Madara and Ciri said nothing in response.

"He's clearly going to say he's the one who brought us together after saving the day from some monster..." Madara muttered to no one in particular.

"He really will..." Ciri said, a laugh escaping her lips.

Yennefer touched Ciri's arm while resting her other on the table. "So where have you two been... There's something strange about you both, even Geralt noticed. And you know how he is..." she said with a smile.

"Yennefer, you insult me like that—can't you see I'm a witcher?" Geralt couldn't help but complain.

"This time I agree with him, Yennefer..." Ciri laughed.

"So... are you going to tell me what happened?" Yennefer asked, looking at both Ciri and Madara with curiosity.

"We talked... about many things." Ciri only said that.

"If that's what you say..." Yennefer didn't seem too convinced, but didn't press further either.

"So, you killed a cyclops? That sounds interesting!" Zoltan said as he drank, looking intrigued.

"That's right, can you give us the details?" Dandelion quickly chimed in, eager to learn about monsters for new songs.

Even Crach's sons were interested. "Cyclopes are rare to find, but almost no one messes with them... We didn't have many recent records of them on the main island," Crach commented.

"He was stealing cows from a farm... We picked up his trail—though the forest was full of common monsters, we dealt with them as we went deeper. The notice board said it was a Fiend," Ciri explained.

"Fiend? That's no small thing... a cyclops is easier to handle," Crach gave his opinion.

"Fiends are rare to find... the only one I came across was the one we fought together on Sodden Hill, and it was a zombie too..." Madara said, glancing at Geralt.

"At least you've seen one... I still don't even know what kind of monster that is..." Ciri complained beside him.

"Yes... You already know how hard that creature is to kill. You must always be prepared for it if you want to survive," Geralt said.

"You think I should fear that monster?" Madara couldn't help mocking Geralt.

"No..." Geralt didn't deny it, knowing what that boy was capable of. "But it never hurts to be prepared..." He still gave his opinion, and Madara nodded.

"You're not wrong," Madara said, even though he knew Geralt's tips weren't very useful when he was always prepared himself.

Soon a servant came bringing mugs and placed them in front of Madara and Ciri.

"Drink! You have to taste the beer brewed in Skellige—there's nothing better in the whole continent," the king suddenly exclaimed, pointing at Ciri and Madara.

Madara looked along with Ciri and nodded, while the Uchiha's black eyes landed on the woman beside the king. She had cold eyes, full of anger and frustration.

"What is that woman looking at... I like Eist's brother, but I don't like his wife one bit..." Ciri complained beside Madara.

"Can't you see... she clearly wanted her son to be the one marrying Princess Ciri," Madara mocked beside her.

"You said it... what a greedy woman," Ciri said with annoyance, and saw Madara drinking from his mug—her curiosity got the better of her, and she soon followed his lead.

Madara had almost never drunk alcohol before, so this was his first time trying beer in this world. He felt the drink was bitter and quite strong, but endured it. Ciri, on the other hand, grimaced and began coughing the moment she stopped drinking.

Cough... cough... cough...

Madara patted her back and even used healing chakra to soothe her, and she thanked him with a glance.

"I've never had beer before... I definitely prefer wine," Ciri commented.

"You can ask for wine," Yennefer said from the other side.

"I'll remember that as soon as I finish this mug," Ciri replied, trying to take another sip. "So..." She spoke again once she managed to swallow the rest of the beer. "How are the accommodations in the castle?" Ciri asked the sorceress.

"We're being very well looked after... King Bran put us in the best rooms. In fact, we need to show you where you'll be staying," Yennefer said.

"I hope I'll be next to Madara. I won't accept anything less," Ciri said in a stubborn tone.

"I don't think that's happening until your wedding, young lady," Geralt said.

"Father... you separated me from Madara?" Ciri exclaimed—perhaps the drink had made her a little more cheerful.

"Father..." Yennefer smiled at that.

"Of course I did, it's only proper," Geralt said in a serious tone.

"Doesn't matter, I can teleport in the middle of the night," Ciri stuck out her tongue.

"When did you become so rebellious?" Yennefer couldn't help but laugh.

"I've always been rebellious..." Ciri gave a silly smile and looked at Madara as she finished her beer. "Don't you think?" she asked.

"I don't know why you'd think that," he teased, and her smile widened even more.

"You know... people are really staring at us right now," Ciri said, glancing around the hall. Dozens of pairs of eyes seemed very interested in the two of them.

"We're practically announcing that we're going to reclaim Cintra... You think that's a small matter? People are expecting something big from this marriage ever since our names were announced," Madara said.

"But we're not acting now..." Ciri reminded him.

"Exactly... we still have a few enemies to deal with," Madara said, as another mug was handed to him. Ciri refused and asked for wine. The servant nodded at her request and walked away.

"Our enemies... don't forget about us," Yennefer said, sipping a glass of wine.

"Yes... we're going to deal with the Wild Hunt!" Ciri laughed as she looked up, noticing the group staring at her strangely.

"Wild Hunt?!" Dandelion exclaimed, wide-eyed.

Even Crach looked stunned by that, along with his children. "Wait... are you talking about the legends? I thought that was a myth!" Cerys said from across the table.

"No... they're very real, and they're after us," Ciri said, not wanting to admit she was their only real target.

"That sounds a bit hard to believe. Is it true, Geralt? Do they exist?" Crach asked the witcher directly.

"All signs point to yes..." Geralt sighed.

"You might find it absurd... but you have to see what that boy can do... I doubt there's anything he can't handle," Zoltan said, pointing at Madara.

Madara remained silent, watching without much reaction, while everyone looked at him.

"Is it true? I've heard a lot about him, but I wanted to hear the details... they say he can defeat entire armies on his own," Cerys said, excited beside her brother, who also looked at Madara, hoping to witness that kind of monster firsthand.

Ciri was just receiving her wine at that moment and didn't hear the question, while Zoltan went on, answering for her.

"I saw it... we were out at sea, and three pirate ships tried to attack us... The boy spat flames so hot that the sea itself caught fire. The flames took only seconds to reach the three ships, and that was it—every pirate burning alive, their ships being destroyed as the wood exploded in flames!" Zoltan seemed a bit drunk, and even nearby tables were looking at him as he spoke so loudly.

"That's hard to believe... Are you saying he breathes fire? Like, from his mouth?" Hjalmar thought it sounded like pure fantasy.

"He can do that..." Dandelion said, and no one else spoke as Ciri turned her attention back to the table.

"What are you all talking about?" she asked, enjoying her wine.

"About Madara," Zoltan said.

"Really, are you talking about when we fought those dragons?" Ciri asked.

"Dragons?" Crach raised an eyebrow, and everyone turned to Ciri again, surprised.

"We dealt with some dragons on the continent before coming here. They were really big—I fought them first, until Madara pulled me out of the fight and took on both by himself," Ciri said cheerfully.

"Why would you be fighting dragons? I've never even heard of one on the continent," Cerys asked, clearly intrigued.

"The dragons came after me. I was exploring the northern mountains... I found a dragon and made it take me to the valley where all the dragons are... I ended up causing some trouble there, and they started following me across the continent," Madara said calmly, leaving everyone who hadn't heard the story before in disbelief.

"You went to the dragon valley...? Something like that really exists?" Dandelion murmured, stunned.

"Yes..." Madara said, finishing his second mug of beer.

"It's really beautiful there... There are dragons of all kinds," Ciri said, remembering the images of the place. Even though it was full of dragons trying to kill her, it still had its own beauty.

"You were there with him?" Cerys asked, interested.

"No... Madara showed me through his powers, he shared his adventure with me..." Ciri said.

"Ciri... don't say those things so openly," Madara asked beside her as she seemed embarrassed.

"Sorry," she murmured.

"Wait... you can show it?! You can show me the dragons?! I've always wanted to see one!" Cerys nearly jumped from her seat, looking at Madara with such sparkling eyes it even bothered Ciri.

"This..." Madara looked at her and then at everyone at the table, wondering whether he should or not, but with a glance at the girl, he knew she wouldn't stop pestering them—even with her father ready to put her in her place.

"Alright," Madara finally said, while no one else noticed what they were talking about at the nearby tables. He opened his Sharingan and placed Cerys in a genjutsu, surprising those unfamiliar with his eyes when they saw them turn red.

Cerys froze for five seconds and suddenly blinked, as if she had just returned to the party. "That... was so cool!!!" the girl exclaimed, looking at Madara as if she were seeing a deity.

"What did you see, Cerys?" Hjalmar asked, surprised.

"You had to see it, brother! Dragons... a place full of dragons... they laughed and tried to kill Madara, but he used some kind of magic and fought them—it was so cool!" Cerys kept talking excitedly, while Madara felt Ciri shifting uncomfortably beside him.

He looked at her and saw she was still bothered by Cerys. Madara noticed people were dancing in the middle of the hall and took her hand. "How about we go dance a little?" he asked, catching the girl off guard.

"You... want to dance... Do you even know how to dance like that?" Ciri asked, looking at the people dancing more joyfully.

"Don't worry, did you forget I have the Sharingan? I've already copied how people here dance. Come, I'll teach you," Madara smiled, and Ciri nodded cheerfully.

"Of course, I'd love to." The two left the table, while Cerys was still excitedly telling everyone how she saw the dragons through Madara's eyes, not even noticing he was no longer there.
