The coordinates led them north, into the frozen remnants of what had once been Canada. The journey was perilous, the land still ravaged by the aftereffects of the war. Snow and ice blanketed the ground, and the skeletal remains of cities loomed in the distance, their structures collapsing under the weight of time and neglect.
Jack and Julia traveled in a patched-together vehicle Jack had modified from the wreckage of a drone. It hovered silently over the terrain, its engines humming with the faint power of salvaged technology. The radio signal grew stronger as they neared their destination, but it remained cryptic, offering no further clues as to who or what they might find.
When they finally arrived at the coordinates, they found themselves standing before a hidden bunker, its entrance concealed beneath layers of snow and debris. Jack's heart pounded as he approached, his weapon drawn. Julia stayed close behind him, her eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of danger.
The bunker's door creaked open under Jack's hand, revealing a dimly lit staircase that descended into darkness. The air was cold and stale, filled with the metallic tang of old machinery.
"Hello?" Jack called, his voice echoing down the corridor.
For a moment, there was only silence. Then, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was a man, his face gaunt and weathered, his eyes filled with equal parts fear and hope.
"You came," the man said, his voice trembling. "We thought no one would hear us."
Jack lowered his weapon slightly. "Who are you?"
The man hesitated, then extended a hand. "My name is Elias. We're the last survivors."
