"Head Harold, how did this happen?" Jeremy asked.
Head Harold expected the question, so he didn't say anything. He started recounting the things said by Elder John.

A look of understanding dawned on Jeremy Night. He didn't expect the casualty numbers to be this high. The students there were selected through the genius list.
His own name was recommended as well, but it was rejected in the end. Yet, he didn't expect that by a twist of fate, he would be selected as the replacement.
Jeremy calmed his turbulent heart. Though it was a pity that a lot of people had died, he wanted to use this opportunity to grow. He could provide better resources to the lifeline beast.
The unknown beast egg hadn't shown any sign of hatching. It had been consuming resources like a bottomless pit.
Maybe he could do something after going to the special base. He had heard that rare resources were given to the students there.
