Chapter 494 - High Price Sheath

"Not bad," Xin muttered, giving the blade a few more swings before carefully setting it aside.

"Tsunade, why doesn't the Raijin Blade have a sheath?"

"Grandpa Tobirama said that when they made it, there wasn't enough material left for a sheath, so it never got one. Want me to get one made for you?"

Tsunade's head poked out from the kitchen, her eyes gleaming. It was clear she was hinting at doing him a favor... for a price, of course.

Yep, you've fallen right into the money pit, Tsunade.

"How much would a decent sheath cost?"

Xin knew she wasn't doing this for free, but he also wasn't interested in running all over town himself. Why not let Tsunade's connections do the work?

Five million!"

"Cough, cough—what!?" Xin nearly choked on his own breath, glaring at her with disbelief.

Five million ryo? Was she out of her mind? That amount could buy him a brand-new chakra weapon!

"Ahem! I misspoke! I meant five hundred thousand!" Tsunade quickly corrected herself when she noticed Xin's narrowed eyes and dangerous look. She raised her hand as if swearing it was a mistake.

"I've got seventy thousand in this scroll. Don't try to cheat me out of any of it," Xin warned as he tossed her the scroll. "And if the sheath isn't top quality, you'll have to answer to me."

He didn't trust anyone in the village more than Tsunade to get the job done. Letting her handle this would save him a lot of time and effort.

Grabbing the scroll with glee, Tsunade dashed out the door in an instant.

"Give me three days! You'll have your sheath, guaranteed!" She shouted as she disappeared.

"...Great."

Xin stared at the now open front door before glancing at the mess she left behind in the kitchen. He was starting to regret letting her do the dishes-Tsunade in the kitchen was a bigger disaster than even Kushina.

Sighing, he rolled up his sleeves and got to work cleaning up.

Tsunade, however, was already on her way to the Hokage's office, motivated by the cash in her pocket.

The door to the Hokage's office burst open, startling Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado as they were deep in discussion. The Third Hokage, however, didn't even bat an eye. He was well accustomed to Tsunade's dramatic entrances by now.

"You-!" Koharu began to scold the intruder for their lack of manners, but upon turning to see that it was Tsunade, she immediately bit her tongue.

There was no point lecturing Tsunade about rules or courtesy. She wouldn't care in the slightest.

"Old man, do me a favor-get a sheath made for the Raijin Blade. I need it fast. I'll pick it up in three days," Tsunade announced, already halfway out the door before they could respond. The seventy thousand Ryo, Xin had given her was something she planned to pocket.

As for getting the sword's sheath made?

That was the Third Hokage's problem now.

After all, she'd been working herself to the bone for the village. Wasn't it only fair that the village put in a little effort for her?
