Lady Evelyn's cheeks turned crimson as she scrambled to her feet. the embroidery of her gown slightly torn at the edge. The poise and mockery she wore just moments ago were gone.
"You! You did this!" she pointed at the sisters. "Just like your mother…" but before she spoke further, she paused and then gritted her teeth. "I will not let this go!"
But she could hear the snickers from both sides. She glared at the sisters and with her head held high, she turned away, leaving Oriana in confusion while Olivia narrowed her eyes.
Oriana stared after her, breath fogging in the chill. Her brows furrowed.
"What did she mean?" she whispered, then looked at Olivia. "How did she know our mother?"
Olivia didn't answer. Her face was as still as ice, lips slightly parted, eyes locked in the direction Evelyn had fled. Her fingers tightened around the gloves she held.
"Olivia?" Oriana pressed again, stepping closer.
