He wasn't the only one feeling this way. The other Ersatz prisoners around him were in complete silence as they began to realize what they did.
The family praised them, as if they saved them, as if they had just rescued them from the maws of a terrible monster.
They barely did anything. And yet, this family was safe. They would no longer have to worry as the night came and the blizzard brought chaos outside their four walls. Light would continue to suffuse this household with warmth.
