Chapter 374: Crisis in Spirit City
At this moment, Spirit City was in a state of extreme crisis. Originally, the Spirit Empire had over fifteen Titled Douluo, but now only six of the consecrated elders remained, along with a few other elders. Nearly a third of the Titled Douluo were away on missions.
Even more concerning was the disappearance of Bibi Dong, Qian Daoliu, and Qian Renxue. Only the highest-ranking elders knew of their current status. After absorbing the spirit ring of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, Bibi Dong had gained a mysterious power and had remained in seclusion ever since.
Qian Daoliu and Qian Renxue were similarly occupied. Qian Renxue was undergoing her godhood trials, with Qian Daoliu assisting her closely. She was already on her ninth and final Angelic God trial, leaving them with precious little time.
The strength of the soul beast forces far exceeded everyone's expectations. Not only had they fought their way to Spirit City undetected, but their unimpeded advance hinted at a significant transformation within the soul beast ranks.
The ancient records of the Angel clan contained accounts of past beast tides, but never had there been one like this. Previously, even when the soul beasts launched attacks, they were disorganized, often competing with each other and failing to achieve unified coordination—nothing like the structured warfare of intelligent races.
In such cases, the soul beasts could never unleash their full might, essentially relying on brute numbers to charge forward. Even a regular army could deal significant damage to them.
But this beast tide was different. From start to finish, it advanced with military precision, moving with incredible speed, striking with lightning-fast precision, and somehow managing to eliminate all spies, cutting off all lines of communication.
After observing their advance, Flame Hawk Douluo reported that the entire soul beast army moved with the cohesion of a military force. There was clearly a powerful leader in control—one with intelligence far surpassing that of ordinary soul beasts and with a deep understanding of human warfare.
At this point, Golden Crocodile Douluo and Hu Liena were both deeply worried. If the Grand Worship were present, he could leverage the unique divine power of Angel City, along with his strength as an Ultimate Douluo and the presence of the Angelic Holy Sword, to suppress the soul beasts.
But Spirit Empire's three most critical figures were all in seclusion, and the places where they had secluded themselves were inaccessible to others.
Golden Crocodile Douluo, clad in golden armor, gazed grimly at the map depicting the beast tide's approach. Spirit City seemed trapped in a dire predicament.
At that moment, Flame Hawk Douluo approached him urgently. "Reporting to Second Worship! At the current rate of advance, Spirit City will be fully encircled within a day. We're running out of time."
Golden Crocodile Douluo nodded. "How many troops have we managed to assemble? How many do we have at present?"
Flame Hawk Douluo quickly responded, "After an initial count, we have nearly forty thousand spirit masters, about half of our total. We can also muster approximately four hundred thousand soldiers within the day to defend the city. However, the armies in Tiandou City, Star Luo City, and Hanhai City combined total nearly three million, but it would take at least ten days for them to return—especially those in Hanhai City, who would need about twelve days."
Golden Crocodile Douluo's expression grew even more grave. "How soon can we recall our spirit master battalions? Can they arrive sooner?"
Flame Hawk Douluo reported, "We've already recalled as many spirit masters from within a few hundred kilometers as possible, but their numbers won't be enough."
Golden Crocodile Douluo studied the entire map intently. "Aside from the main attack on Spirit City, are there any other potential threats from the soul beasts? Has there been any sign of an attack near Hanhai City or the Northern Frontier?"
Flame Hawk Douluo shook his head. "So far, we haven't received any reports of fighting from those areas. They should be safe, so at least we won't be facing attacks on multiple fronts."
Golden Crocodile Douluo shook his head. "So, in the short term, we'll have no reinforcements. Is that correct? How is morale within our ranks? Are there any signs of desertion?"
Flame Hawk Douluo replied resolutely, "Second Worship, you can rest assured that everyone in Spirit City is united and determined to hold the line."
He paused before continuing, "Even if we deploy the nearest reinforcements, it will still take five days for them to reach us, and their numbers won't be substantial. To amass a force of hundreds of thousands would take at least ten days."
After a moment's contemplation, Golden Crocodile Douluo made a firm decision. "Flame Hawk Douluo, send someone to seek help from Skywing Academy. Ask Yang Potian to come if he can."
Flame Hawk Douluo looked skeptical. "Will Yang Potian respond, given our situation? Skywing Academy has remained neutral up until now."
Golden Crocodile Douluo shook his head. "Yang Potian may be cunning and reluctant to interfere, but this is a battle for humanity's survival. As a human, he knows what he must do."
With this assurance, Flame Hawk Douluo immediately dispatched the fastest flying Spirit Douluo to Skywing Academy, as time was of the essence.
For a top-tier flying Spirit Douluo, covering thousands of kilometers in a single day wasn't an issue, and Spirit Hall boasted many skilled aerial spirit masters.
In the soul beast ranks, Di Tian wore a somber expression, while Tang San remained silently by his side.
According to Tang San's plan, they had mobilized nearly the entire soul beast force to strike Spirit City, practically emptying the Star Dou Forest.
However, none of the other spirit beast forests had leaders like Di Tian, which meant that large-scale beast tides couldn't be organized from those regions.
Di Tian had even sent messengers to the Northern Frontier and the oceans, seeking their kings to join the beast tide, but he received no response.
When he dispatched messengers to the Northern Frontier, Snow Empress and Ice Empress turned them away, explaining that the beasts of the frozen tundra couldn't survive in Spirit City's climate. Di Tian's plea was met with indifference.
Similarly, when he sent emissaries to the ocean to contact the Deep Sea Demon Whale King and the Evil Demon Orcas, they found no trace of either.
Di Tian was confident in his strength, but Spirit City, as the land of divine inheritance, provided its spirit masters with divine protection. Here, the Holy Light of the Angel God empowered spirit masters, enhancing their combat abilities and speeding up their spirit power recovery—making it one of the most difficult places to assault.
Additionally, both Di Tian and Tang San possessed dark attributes, which would put them at a disadvantage under the Angel God's influence in Spirit City.
However, neither Di Tian nor Tang San fully understood the current situation within Spirit City. Their primary targets were Qian Daoliu and Bibi Dong, the two Ultimate Douluo who posed the greatest threat.
