The devil beside Max whispered, "Open killing's forbidden here. That's why the city looks calm. Outside the walls, it's different."
Max gave him a brief glance. "I can tell."
As Max walked deeper into the street, plenty of people noticed him. The Primordials reacted first. Several of them looked at Max and immediately sensed his cultivation realm.
When they realized he was only at the 1st level of the Law Manifestation Realm, strange expressions crossed their faces. Some looked surprised. Some frowned slightly. Some seemed puzzled about how someone at his level had even entered the Godslayer's Pilgrimage.
But once they sensed the Primordial aura in his body, most of them didn't show any contempt. Instead, they nodded to him. It wasn't a warm greeting, but it counted as recognition. Maybe they assumed he had some unusual background.
