Angelina Valerius let the uproar from Ervin and Kaiden's battle settle for a short while before she raised her hand once more, and the giant screen above the arena began to spin.
By now, the final competitive stage had moved far past the point where ordinary matches could satisfy the crowd. Too many shocking battles had already taken place. Max had defeated Rosaline, Rakan, Kaiden, Selene, and Aurelian.
Revona had ground Orion down to exhaustion and had later beaten Rakan as well. Ervin had just forced Kaiden to unveil the full terror of the Grand Void Labyrinth before defeating him with the Gate of the Second Depth.
The remaining battles grew heavier with each round, and every new pairing between major geniuses seemed capable of reshuffling the rankings at the top.
The first name slowed and appeared.
