Max looked at him silently for a moment.
Then he laughed.
It was not loud, but the mockery in it spread clearly across the sky.
"You people really never learn."
The dark blue armored man's eyes narrowed. "Do not think your ranking will protect you. Rank seven only means you have gathered many Killing Points. It does not mean you can fight everyone here alone."
Max's smile became colder.
"I heard something similar not long ago," he said. "Karo also thought numbers could stop me."
Some of the surrounding participants' faces changed when they heard Karo's name. Clearly, news of what had happened outside Starfall Haven had not fully reached everyone yet, but some had heard fragments. The demon Karo had been known among many participants, and if Max was mentioning him in such a tone, then something serious must have happened.
Nancy slowly drew her sword and said quietly, "Max, we do not have time to waste here. Caroline may still be in danger."
Max nodded. "I know."
