"Miss Isabella, what are you doing here?" Max asked with a relaxed smile as he walked up to the door of his residence.
He stopped a short distance away from her and looked at the young woman who stood waiting there.
Isabella Lumin looked visibly uncomfortable. Her usually composed expression had become slightly tense, and she bit her lower lip for a moment before answering him.
"Do not act like you know nothing," she said in a low voice. "I am here to fulfill my end of the bet since I lost to you."
Max's smile widened slightly when he heard that.
"You mean you want to be my maid for the next ten years?" he asked with an obvious hint of amusement in his voice.
The moment those words left his mouth, Isabella's face immediately turned bright red. The embarrassment was so obvious that even the faint glow of the palace lanterns could not hide it. For a brief moment she looked as if she wanted to say something sharp in response, yet she forced herself to remain calm.
