Chapter 22 - A gathering full of people and full of problems (Part 1)

Author notes 1:

Sup guys, here again with another chapter.

First part of the gathering/meeting whatever you can call it.

Well I'm a bit busy doing other stuff...end of the year is quite wild, you know?

Playing Warframe, the new update too, The Old Peace.

Here are some pics for the bros who play WF in the comments

(Image)

The gathering will be probably 3 parts.

I'm thinking of making shorter chapters, but they'll be released more frequently.

I can write 1000 words every day and publish a chapter every three/four days (3k words per chapter)

The idea is good, but the execution... haha, I only write if I feel like it, if I don't feel like it and I force myself, then I'm going to hate it.

Like always, no promises, but let's see how it goes.

No author's notes 2 for this chap because I'm already working on the next one so it will come sooner if everything goes okay.

-Samuel Pov-

"These days I'm standing a lot in front of the mirror." I say, adjusting my suit.

Time to get ready for the gathering.

Pretty sure some retard will crash the party... probably Loki, I'm betting on him.

For someone who is the god of lies and cunning, he always tends to make terrible decisions, whatever version of him in different fictional stories, ironic.

He's going to be tremendously disappointed. If he actually shows up, this is going to hurt him a lot.

Well... whatever comes with ill intent, it will get mogged by me.

Terrorism is over.

I'll probably also see one or two members of the Khaos Brigade there... if I play the card of a powerful person who doesn't care about anything and has no faction and is just there for fun.

It's not a stretch to say I might receive an invitation to join, that gives me a good start to killing them all in one swing. If I'm unlucky and nothing happens, I can simply wait a little longer for canon events.

Anyway, I reached a point where I became too strong... it's over~

--Pitch Black - 87%--

--Killua Zoldyck - 100%--

--Starscourge Radahn - 52%--

Normal. Pitch Black and Radahn are taking longer... Killua already fully assimilated.

Makes sense... Killua and I, we have things in common. Both rich and from old families and let's not forget he is a "normal" human.

Magic, Senjutsu, Touki and now I'm getting a huge boost with Nen, just wait until I put Jaune to assimilate.

Poor fucker, the next one who fights me, I'll just one shot him hehe.

But yeah, one advantage from the gacha is that you get a lot of tools, the disadvantage is that you get too many tools.

Weapons, different types of magic, power systems, abilities...

It's true that by assimilating, you can reach a more than respectable level with the power systems... but I don't want to stop there... I want to keep improving. I have to do it.

"I wanna be the very best ♫ like no one ever was ♪" I joke, singing that line.

Eventually I will become jack of all trades, master of all.

"All ready." I said, looking at myself in the mirror.

Nice.

Last time I put on a suit was a black one with golden details, today I'm going white, light based.

(Image of the suit)

I open the door of my room as I go to the living room.

"Xen, ready?" I ask her.

"Un." She was wearing the new outfit we designed.

Battle oriented and royal enough.

"Let's go." I extended my arm to her.

As she reached it she said.

"The others are already there?"

"No idea, the Grigori are there already, they are hosting this whole thing after all." I say.

Makes sense, of the three factions they are the most neutral.

Before we go to the gathering... yeah let's do that.

You are treated according to how you look/how they perceive you.

So let's go with this...

I stop hiding some of my real power. I let it flow.

The first one to notice was Xenovia, whose neck quickly went in my direction.

"...What was that?" She asks slowly.

"I don't want people to have the wrong idea, neither do I want them TO TRY to walk over me for some stupid reason." I say.

Somewhat stronger than Sirzechs, let's make people believe that.

A human stronger than a good chunk of gods at seventeen, it's quite funny.

The heavens do not fear me because I am a god, they fear me because I am a man.

Divinity in shambles!

Will be funny if someone tries to recruit me, other pantheons or Khaos Brigade.

"Let's go."

With that, Xenovia and I teleport outside the reception of the gathering.

---

-Third Person POV-

Azazel was waiting in the reception with his usual confident smile, greeting the guests.

He was wearing a suit for the occasion instead of his usual yukata that give him the impression of some kind drunkle, or his other edgy attire worthy of a leader of the fallen.

Next to him was his second in command.

Shemhazai.

Young looking, white-haired, but with a tired expression because of the recent events.

Azazel was working him to the bone.

First asking him to investigate the entire Lancaster bloodline to every detail. In the end, it was a huge waste of his time. They did not obtain any relevant or important information.

And now... asked him for more help to prepare a gathering for multiple invited pantheons and that satisfies them, something worthy of the Abrahamic pantheon, the bastard said.

Of course Azazel will help him out, right? He is the leader of the fallen angels, right?

'My ass.' Shemhazai thought, looking at Azazel with a tired expression.

As soon as Azazel gave the order, he gave him some subordinates, some money, and dipped.

He still remembered his words because it pissed him off.

"You do that, I have important Azazel matters to attend, adios"

Basically he goes to sit his ass and play tinkering with those damned sacred gears of his.

Worse when there are other hobbies that don't even help the faction.

"You should take the frown from your face, old pal, people will think you don't want to be here." Azazel shamelessly said to him.

Shemhazai just looked at him and punched his abdomen.

"GUARK!" Azazel exclaimed.

"After things settle down, I want a vacation." Shemhazai stated.

"Sure pal." Azazel easily agreed, giving him a smile while holding his abdomen.

'I didn't fall from heaven for this crap.' Shemhazai said, tired, in his mind.

They both stopped when they felt a strong presence outside.

"No way..." Azazel muttered as Shemhazai gave him a look.

Lancaster entered the reception along with Xenovia with a confident strut.

"No fucking way." Azazel said again, this time louder.

He quickly shook his head out of the surprise.

"Kid, you came!" He said with fanfare, acting like the host.

"I told you I would, didn't I?" Samuel said calmly.

"Yeah yeah." Azazel waved his hands, dismissing that matter, and asked seriously. "Kiddo... you were always this strong?"

"Not always, but I trained." Samuel said, a half truth.

"Come on, don't give me that... I know—" Azazel was cut by him.

"Sorry, and you must be?" Samuel asked in a kind tone to Shemhazai.

"Shemhazai. Second in command of the Grigori. Nice to finally meet you, Samuel Lancaster." Shemhazai said.

"Oh? You know about me?"

"I was given the task to investigate your family history." Shemhazai said with an amused face, pointing his thumb at Azazel, who looked at him with a dramatic novel expression of betrayal.

Shemhazai threw Azazel under the bus, in spite for overworking him.

Samuel's eyes gleamed a bit in amusement, his brain working fast to use this chance and have some fun.

"Is that so?" Samuel gave a disappointed expression to Azazel.

Of course Samuel was just playing around.

"H-haha, sorry kid, I just wanted to help you out, you know? Besides, I got a bit curious about your background." Azazel, just like Lancaster, said a half truth.

"Uh hu." Not impressed, Samuel started to walk to the main hall of the gathering.

"Let me guide you for a bit, kiddo, I'm the host after all." Azazel was ready to win again the brownie points he just lost.

"Vali and his team are there." Azazel said, but Samuel kept walking.

"Is that so?"

"Other guests too, the devils will come in a bit..." The fallen tried again.

"Okay."

"Careful with the other pantheons..." Azazel said, already knowing it's pointless.

"Kinda funny, you know?" Samuel finally said.

"What thing?"

"I was ready to ask you, the self-proclaimed expert in sacred gears, some pointers about my newly discovered sacred gear that nobody here heard about... but I guess you will need to regain my trust first." Samuel acted pained but with a smile.

Azazel stopped dead in his tracks, slowly realizing the implications of what that meant.

Eyes wide, mouth slightly agape.

He automatically dismissed almost all of the conjectures he made about Lancaster.

'A new sacred gear... yes... it can be.' Azazel was lost in thought.

"Well, I'm looking forward to whatever present or things you do to regain my trust. You are the kind, cool drunkle of the new generation, right? I will be waiting for your acts of good faith." Samuel said with a smug smile as he walked away.

Azazel was played in such a small amount of time and with such a small opportunity by Lancaster.

Of course he wanted to know more about a new sacred gear... but now he needed to work it out from zero.

Shemhazai snickered from behind, making Azazel turn to his old friend.

"He got your ass."

---

Samuel entered the main hall of the gathering.

Some people quickly looked at him because of his power. After seeing he was a guest there, they went back to their talks.

Samuel took some time to admire the decorations. White and black colors, cold lights.

Statues as a form of decoration almost everywhere, even the tables had small ones.

The tables had typical Western foods, others have more casual snacks.

A calm melody played in the background.

He looked around at the guests and got an idea of who came and who doesn't.

He would have liked more pantheons to come, but obviously not all of them would come for various reasons.

You name it. Politics, scorn, disgust, etc.

But still, the night was young. He was waiting for some to arrive elegantly late.

The Greeks were here.

He recognized Hercules, or Heracles here in the DxD, accompanied by several other young men he did not know. Probably from his pantheon.

'Those Spirit inheritors of the heroes of the past are frauds hehe.' Samuel joked in his mind.

Samuel quickly stopped joking when he felt a gaze on him.

He turned around to see in the distance an old-looking man with long gray hair sitting at a table with a young-looking white-haired woman.

The All-Father Odin.

And Rossweisse.

'If he comes to talk I need to be very selective with my words... but nah, I don't think that will happen.' Samuel said in his mind.

They locked gazes for a couple of seconds before Samuel lost interest, going to talk to Vali's group.

He looked around a bit but couldn't find anyone else from the Norse pantheon.

There were some youkai in the gathering, but he didn't know any of them.

Samuel didn't know the majority of people in the gathering, only the important powerful ones.

"Yo." Samuel said in front of Vali's team.

The first one to respond was Bikou.

"Yo Lancaster. Just in time, tonight we drink together, right Vali, Arthur?" He said to his other friends too.

Arthur just smiled while Vali was looking at Lancaster like he committed a sin against him.

"Bastard, you held back." Vali didn't say it, but stated it after seeing Lancaster again with his "new" power.

"Come on Vali... it was only a spar, I can't go serious on you." Lancaster didn't bother lying this time.

"I want a rematch." The white-haired one said.

"Sure, but another time... sooo presentations?" Samuel said, looking at the two new people in his group, making Vali scoff.

Samuel knew these two people, but he needed to play his part after all.

"Nice to finally meet you. My name is Arthur Pendragon, Head of the Pendragon house." The blonde young man said in a soft tone, extending his hand to Lancaster.

"It's good to meet someone from another noble house of England." Samuel gave him a firm handshake. "Samuel Lancaster, Head of the Lancaster house." He said.

Both had one thing in common.

Their houses were in ruins.

Shadows of a forgotten golden past. They once reigned like kings, but now they were weakened and on the verge of extinction.

More so the house of Lancaster, because Samuel is the only member, but it happens that Samuel is the strongest too.

Right now, the House of Lancaster is in a strange position. No affiliations, one member, but that member is a menace.

Some people will say it's a freak of nature.

"I hear from Vali you are a swordsman too, Lancaster?" Arthur asked, pushing his glasses.

"The best." Samuel said with a smile.

"Oh, then it will be okay if I ask for a spar in the foreseeable future?" He asked politely.

"Sure, no problem." Samuel waved his hand. "And who might this be?" Samuel asked the blonde girl.

"She is my little sister." Arthur said, gesturing to his younger sister to introduce herself.

The girl stepped forward in front of Samuel to introduce herself.

"H-hi, I'm Le Fay Pendragon. Nice to meet you." The girl said, a little shyly.

"Likewise." Samuel said carefree, but in his mind the man was locked in for one reason...

He let the chatter in the background while Xenovia introduced herself to the two. Going into his thoughts.

He was finally meeting a person he assimilated from the gacha.

A very rare occasion.

'This raises several questions about what would happen if that person—' Samuel was cut from his thoughts.

"Sorry... c-can I ask you something?" Le Fay asked Samuel, attracting the group's attention.

"...Sure." Samuel said slowly, looking at the girl.

"Maybe... did we meet before?" She said, and Samuel could see the confused expression on everyone's face, including Le Fay.

'Mmmmh, so she can feel a certain familiarity. It makes sense, some people will say I'm her practically.' Samuel thought.

"No, this is my first time meeting you, why?" Samuel said, the first lie of the night.

Then she started walking around Samuel, looking from every angle at him with a pensive expression.

Samuel just smiled as he shook his head at her antics.

'Goofy ass girl.' He thought, amused.

"Le Fay... don't bother him." Her brother called her.

"Haha, sorry onii-chan, but I can't wrap my head around it." She said, jumping back to her brother's side.

"Maybe because you three are from England?" Lavinia said, tilting her head and putting a finger on her chin.

"Maybe it is that." Samuel said, accepting that flawed conclusion from her and hoping that others would do the same for obvious reasons.

Samuel was ignoring her a bit to not look at Lavinia because of the fucking cleavage she had.

'Fucking hell, you can't just wear a cleavage having the second biggest bust in the series, it's too unfair.' Samuel cursed in his mind.

He didn't look, but when you're constantly trying not to look... sigh.

"Speaking of the devil." Vali said, looking at the entrance of the main hall at the devil group who just came.

Samuel already felt their presence way before.

'That's a lot of people.' He said in his mind while looking at the devil group.

As chaperones were Sirzechs and Serafall, who gaped when they saw Lancaster.

'Serafall is in her element after all. Foreign Affairs, in this gathering is a must.' Samuel said in his mind, looking at Serafall, who winked at him.

Rias, Sona, and their peerages too. Expected.

Latia Astaroth and Seekvaira Agares.

Samuel was thinking if these two were here too... maybe he could have the chance to meet THE GOAT himself who created the Devilnet.

Sairaorg Bael and his peerage were here too, just behind Sirzechs, as expected of the strongest of the devil new generation.

Lancaster just smiled at this. Guess it's time to lion meet lion.

Funny thing enough, Sairaorg was going right away in Lancaster's direction.

'Oh? You are approaching me?' Samuel thought.

Aaaaaaaaand that is it for this chapter.
