"Well, you're finally back!" Kano walked over to Si Lu, eyes shining. The little female was actually looking at him.
He felt both nervous and happy.
During this whole period, he had come here every day, staying for long stretches and helping take care of the cubs and her children — all because he wanted to be the first to hear when she returned.
And finally, she was back.
These days, he had missed her terribly. He didn't want to just look at her from a distance anymore. He wanted to be close — close enough to lean against her.
"Yes, I'm back. I heard you've been helping out every day. Thank you for working so hard," Si Lu said with a smile, raising a hand to pat Kano's shoulder.
This teenager was really so obedient.
"Lulu… I… I like you. Can I be your partner?" Kano lifted his head slowly, his eyes burning as he looked at her. His handsome face was full of tension — cautious, humble, terrified she might not like him back.
He was suffering inside, but no matter what, he needed to say this out loud.
His brother had told him: if you like a female, speak boldly and pursue her. Show her your heart and your sincerity.
So during this time, he had reflected a lot. He'd made up his mind to give everything to her.Even if she rejected him, he would still follow her — because he could no longer like anyone else. That part of his heart was already fixed.
Si Lu was stunned. She hadn't expected the boy to actually push past all his emotional blocks and confess so directly.
So enlightened.So brave.
She had been waiting for Kano to say something. And she wasn't expecting him to crack the moment she came home.
Who wouldn't like a boy this good?
The others all looked on with "finally" written across their faces. They had all known Kano liked her — he was just too timid and introverted to speak.
Lan Po and Jin Yang exchanged a look. Thank goodness they confessed first. Otherwise, they would've had one more rival to fight off.
Si Lu looked at the boy in front of her — standing there stiffly, staring at her with a nervous expression.
"Fine," Si Lu said softly, smiling.
Her voice was gentle as ever.
Kano froze.
He lifted his head, disbelief in his eyes. She had really agreed. This wasn't a dream.
His excitement burst through instantly.
"Is it true? Do you really want me to be your beast husband?" Kano asked, eyes wide.
"Of course. You're wonderful. Naturally I'm willing — if you are." Si Lu smiled at him, warmth in her eyes.
"Yes! Of course I'm willing!" Kano grabbed her small hand in excitement.
"Then we'll make it official soon." Si Lu stood on her toes and gently touched his hair. His long white hair was beautiful.
"It's all up to you," Kano said happily.
"Welcome to the family," Cheng Mo said, stepping forward with a smile.
"From now on, we're all one family," Bai Di added.
"Thank you," Kano said shyly, eyes shining.
"Kano, earlier your speech was a little choppy. But now you're talking really smoothly!" Song Zhan commented.
The others noticed too, though they didn't say anything.
"I don't know why," Kano said awkwardly. "I got sick when I was a child… and it's been like this ever since."He glanced nervously at Si Lu, afraid she might dislike him for it.
"Look, it's happening again," Song Zhan added.
"It's fine. It's just because of your emotions. When you're relaxed, you speak smoothly. When you get nervous again, it becomes choppy. It doesn't matter," Si Lu said gently.
She didn't mind at all.
"Really? You don't dislike me?" Kano asked quietly.
"How could I dislike you? You're amazing."
Kano's eyes softened instantly.
"Okay… I'll be more confident from now on. I'll listen to you," he said, obedient as ever.
"Lulu, are you hungry? I'll go cook," Bai Di said immediately.
"I am! I haven't had your cooking in days. I missed it," Si Lu whined playfully.
"Alright, I'll make you a lot," Bai Di said warmly.
"The little female is hungry — I'll help!"
"Me too!"
Song Zhan and Nans rushed to assist.
"I'll study as well," Kano added, reluctant to leave Si Lu's side.
But he wanted to learn. He wanted to take care of her properly.
"Go ahead," Si Lu nodded.
"Lulu, you must've suffered these days. I'll learn to cook, too," Lan Po said, distressed.
"I'll study hard as well," Jin Yang added, guilt flickering across his golden eyes.
"Don't misunderstand!" Si Lu quickly said. "It's not that your cooking was bad — it was great! I've just been eating A Di's food for so long, I got used to it. When I don't have it for a few days, I miss it."
"Ah… I understand," Jin Yang nodded, still guilty.
"I understand too," Lan Po added.
Their expressions…
Si Lu really wanted to ask:What exactly did you think I meant?
