The onlookers had never imagined that Shin would be so bold, actually taking the initiative to provoke Zaraki Kenpachi.
Who was Zaraki Kenpachi? He originally had no name.
He had grown up in District 80, the most chaotic place in all of Rukongai. Back then, as a mere child, he had slaughtered men dozens of times his size.
And he had done it without even using a Zanpakutō.
Kenpachi's ferocity was legendary.
Furthermore, he hailed from the absolute worst place, District 80.
Yet, he had risen to become a Captain.
Shin didn't waste time on idle chatter. He vanished, reappearing right beside Kenpachi.
Kenpachi assumed the technique Shin had used from Naruto was Kidō.
Since Shin had no way of explaining it, and since in this world, such abilities were generally referred to as Kidō, he figured he'd just let Kenpachi think what he wanted.
It wasn't a loss for Shin anyway. He charged at Kenpachi. The Zanpakutō in Kenpachi's hand matched the man perfectly.
It was crude and unrefined. In fact, Kenpachi's long sword was so jagged and uneven it barely resembled a proper Zanpakutō.
The hilt was wrapped in cloth bandages. Kenpachi clearly didn't consider Shin a serious threat.
He held his Zanpakutō, not even bothering to release it.
Kenpachi's Spiritual Pressure was so immense that his sword was never truly sealed.
It constantly existed in a semi-released state.
After exchanging a few blows with Shin, Kenpachi finally realized that this guy was definitely not the weakling he had initially assumed.
Kenpachi frowned slightly and initiated the Shikai of his Zanpakutō.
"Unbelievable... he actually forced Zaraki Kenpachi to use Shikai."
"This new soul is incredibly strong. Why wasn't his power detected earlier?"
The surrounding crowd thought to themselves. The Shinigami who had evaluated Shin earlier was red-faced with embarrassment.
He had nearly sent Shin to District 80 to die.
Shin hadn't intended to stand out so much. Having just arrived in Rukongai, he had preferred to keep a low profile.
But he didn't want to forfeit the System's reward either, so he opted for a cleverer approach.
With a single hand, Shin pierced through Kenpachi's clothing, stopping just short of taking his life.
Of course, the onlookers couldn't tell how close it had been.
But the System sensed it perfectly, immediately declaring that Shin had completed the quest.
Having successfully gamed the System, Shin withdrew his hand.
Kenpachi, however, felt extremely unsatisfied. He had a nagging suspicion that Shin was holding back.
Feeling underestimated, Kenpachi scoffed. Just as he was about to press the attack, he realized Shin had completely disengaged.
Kenpachi sheathed his Zanpakutō. The crowd immediately swarmed around him, showering him with praise.
"As expected of Zaraki Kenpachi. This new soul was no match for him at all."
"Kenpachi must have held back. If he hadn't, this new soul wouldn't have stood a chance."
This outcome was entirely manufactured by Shin, so he felt no need to clarify anything. Instead, he turned to Kenpachi and asked:
"Now, am I qualified to enter District 80?"
Kenpachi gave a cold snort.
Forget District 80—based on the skill Shin had just displayed, he was more than qualified to enter District 1.
"Of course," Kenpachi replied.
Shin was even assigned decent living quarters.
He was quite pleased. Soon after, someone informed him that with his strong Spiritual Pressure, he could even apply to join the Gotei 13.
Given the strength Shin had just demonstrated, many already considered him a prime candidate for the guard squads.
Shin had completed the quest and obtained Kyōka Suigetsu (Zanpakutō).
However, he didn't intend to pull it out immediately.
If he were to suddenly produce that Zanpakutō, everyone would be dumbfounded.
East District 80 was a gathering place for those with weak Spiritual Pressure, people who couldn't even grasp the basics of Kidō.
Even Kenpachi didn't know what Bankai was.
And Kenpachi's 11th Division left Shin utterly speechless.
As soon as he arrived, he was greeted by a gang of what looked like delinquent thugs. They were a bizarre and grotesque bunch, leaving Shin at a loss for words.
Completely oblivious to their own hideous appearances, they swarmed Shin to greet him.
Though, their manner of "greeting" wasn't exactly friendly.
"I hear you're the guy who provoked Captain Kenpachi?"
"You seem to have some strength. How about a fight?"
Kenpachi saw Shin's potential, though he couldn't recruit him into the 11th Division just yet. Moreover, Kenpachi sensed something else.
Perhaps Shin simply wasn't interested in the 11th Division.
But while Kenpachi might think that way, his subordinates certainly didn't.
Kenpachi was a battle maniac, and his squad members were even crazier.
From the Lieutenant down to the lowest-ranking unseated officer, they all worshipped Kenpachi. And the moment Shin entered Rukongai, he had dared to challenge their idol.
To them, this was unforgivable.
"What's wrong? You scared?"
For the first time, Shin began to regret choosing District 80. If he had known it would be like this, he would have just gone to District 1.
The atmosphere in District 1 was entirely different. Here, the decay and poverty were visible everywhere.
Kenpachi made no attempt to stop his men from challenging Shin. Shin sighed. If he wanted any peace and quiet in District 80, he'd have to teach these guys a harsh lesson to buy himself some time.
Shin thought for a moment and decided to stop holding back.
Spiritual Pressure in District 80 was thin, and hardly anyone here could use Kidō.
Seeing Shin's relatively slender frame, the thugs sneered.
They had already figured out that Shin's abilities likely revolved around Kidō.
But since he was in District 80, he wouldn't be able to rely on it.
In a pure physical brawl, they didn't believe for a second they could lose to Shin.
...
Shin struck directly, and not a single person in the area could put up any resistance.
In moments, the ground was littered with bodies.
"Don't bother me again unless it's important."
