Kyōraku Shunsui couldn't bring himself to believe it either—the thought that Aizen could single-handedly plot against so many captains and vice-captains seemed impossible. He was clearly underestimating the man.
After all, Aizen had never revealed his true strength to anyone. Well, that wasn't entirely true. He had shown it to Shin, but the result had been... disastrous for him.
Shin had thoroughly thrashed him. Kyōraku figured Aizen was probably still licking his wounds from that encounter.
"My mission is to bring you back to Soul Society. Once we're there, we can investigate and get to the bottom of this."
Kyōraku still wanted Hirako Shinji to return with him and clear everything up.
"Captain Kyōraku, going back with you is out of the question," Love Aikawa said to him.
Going back now would be walking right into a trap. They had no evidence against Aizen—who would believe them without proof?
Besides, they now possessed Hollow powers. That alone was enough for Soul Society to condemn them.
"Kyōraku Shunsui, looks like your backup is here."
Shin's voice came from behind the Visoreds. A smile spread across Kyōraku's face when he saw him.
"You've got a lot of nerve, Kyōraku, coming here all by yourself. Were you trying to get yourself killed?"
Shin asked.
To be honest, Kyōraku had been serving himself up on a platter. The Visoreds included several former captains. They might have been slightly weaker than Kyōraku in the past, but that was no longer a certainty.
Though they had fallen victim to Aizen's scheme, their power had undoubtedly grown. Even if they hadn't fully mastered their Hollow abilities yet, they were stronger than before.
"Are you two the only ones they sent to bring us back?" Hirako Shinji asked, a strange smile on his face.
"You think that's not enough? I didn't want to get involved, but this guy just had to see his mission through."
Shin said with a sigh. He had planned to stay in the World of the Living for a while before heading back, but it looked like a fight was unavoidable.
"Honestly, I'd rather not fight you, Captain Shin, but we've been backed into a corner."
Hirako's expression turned serious, a Hollow mask already covering half his face. They had to end this quickly, or his Hollowfication would become even harder to control.
"Collapse, Sakanade."
Hirako instantly released his Zanpakuto's Shikai. Sakanade's ability was to emit a disorienting fragrance that, once inhaled, inverted the enemy's perception of up, down, left, right, front, back, and even the direction of incoming attacks.
It was an incredibly practical ability in combat. Even the most experienced fighter, aware of its power, could never truly get used to it.
In Shin's eyes, Hirako was now upside down, and the entire world had been inverted with him.
He was standing on solid ground, yet it felt as if he were suspended in the air, with the earth above his head.
"A useful ability. I think I'll take it..."
Shin said with a faint smile, instantly Copying Sakanade's power. Hirako's Zanpakuto was truly formidable in the right circumstances.
Against an opponent of equal strength, it would give him a decisive advantage. Of course, against someone far more powerful, it was useless.
"Here I come. Try not to get hurt, Captain Shin."
Hirako warned before charging at Shin.
Shin closed his eyes, raised a hand, and caught Hirako's Zanpakuto, showing him what it meant to catch a blade with his bare hands.
With his Observation Haki, Shin could anticipate Hirako's every move.
"Shinra Tensei!"
A terrifying repulsive force slammed into Hirako's body. He coughed up a mouthful of blood and was sent flying, the inverted world shattering around him.
The powerful Hirako Shinji had been taken out by Shin in a single move. He now lay on the ground, unable to get up.
"As expected of Captain Shin. His strength is truly terrifying."
Rose Otoribashi's face was grim. Hirako was one of the strongest among them, yet he had been defeated in an instant.
"Who's next?" Shin asked them calmly. Kyōraku's eye twitched. The power Shin was displaying was simply monstrous.
He hadn't even been able to see how Hirako was defeated—it had all happened in a flash.
"Let's go."
Hirako struggled to his feet. Though he could stand, he was in no condition to fight. He could only manage that one word.
They had to leave. If they stayed, they would be defeated and dragged back to Soul Society.
"That's easier said than done."
Love Aikawa said with a wry smile.
"I'm not trying to kill you right now, so do your best to survive. I'd be impressed if you managed to get away from me."
Shin said, his expression neutral. He raised a hand, launching a kido spell at them.
Shakkahō.
It wasn't a high-level spell, but coming from Shin, its power was not to be underestimated.
"Smash it, Tengumaru!"
Love Aikawa released his Shikai, his Zanpakuto transforming into a giant, spiked club, which he swung at Shin's Shakkahō.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A massive explosion sent Love flying, knocking him out of the fight just like Hirako.
"Damn it, how is he so strong?? I don't believe it! Come on, let me see what you've really got!"
Hiyori Sarugaki charged forward, only to be sent flying just as quickly, also rendered unable to fight.
This was a battle of one-shot victories. Not a single one of them could withstand a single blow from Shin. He could take them out with any casual move.
"I came here to back you up. Are you just going to stand there and watch?" Shin shot a glance at Kyōraku, his tone sharp.
'I came here to save your ass, and you're just spacing out? What's wrong with you? Don't make me walk away from this.'
"Ahaha, I figured you had it all under control. No need for me to step in," Kyōraku said with a laugh.
"What do you think we should do now?" Shin asked him.
If Shin didn't let the Visoreds go, they would all die here. Of course, the name "Visored" didn't exist yet.
"This..." Kyōraku hesitated for a moment. His original plan was to bring them back and then find a way to uncover the truth.
But their reactions had been so intense, as if bringing them back would be a declaration of war. So now, Kyōraku was unsure of what to do.
Seeing the indecisive Kyōraku, Shin shrugged. 'I already told you, you didn't have to get involved. Just say we couldn't find them.'
