He still found it hard to believe that in the end, Gon actually won so effortlessly. No, it wasn't effortless. It came at the staggering cost of three hundred sixty billion Jenny!!
Thinking about such an amount being spent on a game, Leorio felt a bit suffocated: "Actually, buying the game console is of no use to us, right? All we need is the information inside."
Leorio felt a bit sorry for Gon and said, "If Battera bought the game, he'd definitely look for suitable players to clear it. Is this information from the Hunter website? Battera is offering a high reward for this game and the clearing information."
"So, if you just went to Battera and applied to clear the game, wouldn't you still be able to play it?"
"That's true, but..." Gon smiled at Leorio and said, "This game was created by my dad. If I can't even get my hands on a game he made, how could I face him?"
"He'd definitely mock me for needing someone else's help to play his game. That would be so lame."
Yes, if Gon chose "Magnet" after clearing the game and went to see Ging alone, Ging would definitely say that, given his personality.
However, Gon ultimately chose "Accompany" and brought Killua to Kite's side, leading to a series of subsequent events.
"That's right." Killua leaned back in his seat, hands behind his head. "Since Battera is so eager to find someone to clear the game, he must want something from it."
"If that something is specifically left by Ging for Gon, then should we give it to Battera or not?" Killua suggested. "So, even though it cost a lot, buying the game ourselves makes it more enjoyable and less restrictive."
"Exactly!" Gon nodded in agreement. "Do you want to come with us to get 'Greed Island'?" Gon turned to Phinks and Feitan beside him.
"Can we join you?" Phinks, who initially planned to leave and observe secretly, paused upon hearing Gon's offer.
"Aren't you planning to play the 'Greed Island' game too?" Gon beamed with a bright smile, clearly in a great mood after acquiring the game.
"The more people play, the more fun it is!!" He invited Phinks, "And the game cartridge slots are more than enough!!"
"Well, since you put it that way..." Phinks rubbed his chin and exchanged a subtle glance with Feitan. "Let's join then!" Being able to play the game without killing or robbing seemed quite appealing.
When Gon and Killua handed over the three hundred sixty billion Jenny check to the organizers and received 'Greed Island,' Gon's smile was even more uncontainable. "I've got 'Greed Island'!!"
Leorio and Killua congratulated Gon, while Phinks curiously eyed the checkbook in Gon's hand. "Do you always carry a checkbook with you?" Phinks pointed and asked, "How much money do you actually have?"
Though asking about someone's finances was impolite, Phinks, being straightforward and carefree, didn't mind at all.
"As much as I want," Gon replied without hesitation. "But it's deducted from the money I'll earn in the future, considered an advance on future income."
"An advance on future income???" Phinks was puzzled, not understanding. However, Feitan's eyes gleamed with interest. "You mean this checkbook allows you to spend your future assets?"
"That's right. Amazing, isn't it?" Leorio chimed in, "We were also shocked when we first got this checkbook."
"Amazing? Not really." Feitan scrutinized the unusual checkbook. "I've seen many strange things, and the effect of this checkbook is quite similar to a tool owned by someone I know."
"A tool???" Gon, Killua, and Leorio all turned their gaze to Feitan at the same time. "You wouldn't happen to be talking about... Morin, would you?" Gon asked uncertainly.
"Indeed, I knew it was another one of his creations." Feitan squinted slightly, confirming Gon's suspicion.
"So this is a tool crafted by Morin!!" Phinks realized, "No wonder you could come up with so much money!!" He clapped his hands in understanding.
---
Although he didn't quite understand the principle behind advance spending, as long as it was a tool from Morin, it could have virtually any effect. Spending and earning money were no exceptions.
"Huh?! So you guys know Morin too?!" Gon brightened up upon hearing Phinks and Feitan mention Morin. He hadn't expected that the two people he casually invited would also know Morin. This was an unexpected delight.
At the same time, the wariness in Killua's eyes eased slightly. If these two powerful individuals were indeed connected to Morin, that would be ideal.
With a mutual acquaintance as a buffer, their relationship wouldn't be too strained. Killua immediately regarded Phinks and Feitan as acquaintances of Morin, rather than enemies.
In fact, Killua sometimes wondered if Morin even had any enemies. Given Morin's strength and his collection of magical tools, even if he had enemies, those who had wronged him might have already been dealt with.
"Well, if I kill all my enemies, then I won't have any enemies left in the world..." It's a simple and straightforward logic, but not many can achieve it.
Morin, however, happened to be one of those who could. To Killua, Morin was someone who could completely carry out such actions.
Although Morin appeared amicable on the surface, when it came time to act, he would undoubtedly display a ruthlessness and decisiveness far beyond expectations.
"Yes, not only do we know him, but he's also our comrade." Phinks nodded, stating their relationship candidly. Seeing the looks in the eyes of these two kids and the middle-aged man, he felt a sense of camaraderie.
"Comrade?" Killua was taken aback by this. He clearly remembered that Morin was a member of the Phantom Troupe, and being Morin's comrade, they must be as well.
"Phantom Troupe members?!" Leorio, standing beside them, blurted out, having realized the same thing.
"So you even know that?" Phinks showed no embarrassment or defensiveness upon having his identity revealed; instead, he relaxed even more. "Since Morin told you about this, I don't need to be on guard against you."
He spoke directly, effectively confirming his identity. "Phantom Troupe members, huh?" Gon curiously observed Phinks.
Besides Morin and the girl with the lavender hair named Machi who accompanied him that day, these were the first other Troupe members he had met.
"But it seems like the Troupe isn't full of bad people," Gon thought as he looked at Phinks.
With Morin's initial impression, Machi's cool demeanor, and Phinks' open and straightforward nature, Gon formed this perception. The Troupe members had distinct personalities that were quite appealing.
However, the deeds they had committed in the past were unforgivable and didn't need to be excused.
A criminal group was a criminal group, and neither Feitan nor Phinks would deny that.
But to Gon, whether they were criminals or saints, as long as he could acknowledge them as companions and get along with them, they could be friends.
"By the way, I know you're members of the Phantom Troupe, but I don't know your names." Gon patted his head. "I'm Gon, this is Killua, and that's Leorio." He introduced each of them to Phinks.
"I'm Phinks, member number 5 of the Troupe." Phinks reciprocated with his name and then looked at Feitan.
"Feitan Portor, member number 2," Feitan said in a low voice. Since they knew Morin, they had the right to know his name.
"2 and 5, are those your numbers?" Gon pondered, "Come to think of it, I don't know what number Morin is."
"He's number 1, our deputy leader."
