Regarding good luck and stumbling upon benefits by accident, some people call it dumb luck, the sudden favor of the heavens.
Li Xiang was different.
He genuinely believed he had the "Super Luck" Ability, blessed by the heavens as an ultimate lucky charm, landing critical hits every time. It just needed an opportunity to trigger and a cooldown period.
At the very least, it had triggered today.
He had arrived safely on Mist Island, the time flow was favorable. He had discovered water similar to that of Mount Quena, and the issue of Riolu not evolving had found a potential solution.
He had also received a gift package of free items.
Therefore, Li Xiang had reason to believe he could find what he wanted at Sableye's stall.
And when he held the fiery red diamonds in his hand, he was even more convinced.
Without a doubt, these were probably Fire Gems, which could increase the power of Fire-type moves.
There were quite a few of them, about a dozen or so.
"Where did you get all these gems?"
Li Xiang communicated with Sableye through Rotom, trying to find out the original source of the gems. "If you tell me, I'm willing to pay five high-quality Pokéblocks."
For Sableye, Fire Gems were equivalent to rations. A not-so-tasty kind of ration.
Eating them was like eating extremely spicy peppers; it easily burned its mouth.
Li Xiang was generous enough; five Pokéblocks instantly shattered Sableye's resolve.
"Sableye."
After selling the gems it didn't want to eat for a good price, Sableye cheerfully led Li Xiang in a certain direction.
The two Stunky followed behind, pestering Sableye for a share of the spoils, but Sableye brushed them off.
"Fire and Steel. If I keep browsing, I might just collect all the types... Let's follow it and see first; maybe they're all in one place."
Li Xiang put all the fiery red diamonds into his backpack.
In his previous life, he wouldn't have dared treat diamonds like consumables, even if their value was artificially inflated.
Now, strength was the priority. Compared to strength, everything else was fleeting.
They walked through the twisted and crooked clusters of buildings. However, Sableye seemed to be heading out of the city, which gave Li Xiang some pause.
Although he could guess that the source of the Fire Gems wasn't near Wisdom City, he still harbored a sliver of hope.
Unfortunately, his Super Luck had temporarily ceased to function.
"You two go with it and memorize the route."
Li Xiang assigned this sacred task to Riolu and Corviknight. One of them was fast, the other was durable. If they encountered any danger, they could definitely escape.
"Riolu!"
"Cawww!"
The bird and dog responded. The latter let Riolu climb onto its back, gripping the saddle straps, looking like a big bird rider.
Li Xiang stood at the boundary of Wisdom City, beside a small pond bathed in sunlight, waiting for the good news from those two.
Not daring to go now didn't mean he wouldn't dare in the future. Memorizing the location was better than doing nothing.
"Being weak is really tough. To be able to throw my weight around here, I'd probably need an average level of seventy, right?"
Li Xiang sat on a rock, musing. The shade from the tree above blocked the intense sunlight.
Jellicent flickered in and out of view among the branches. The Ten Sages might not be the strongest group on Mist Island, but their strength couldn't be called weak.
From what Mo Ye said, their energy levels were generally above level eighty, with the youngest, Mismagius, also at level seventy-five.
Their destructive power was top-notch.
Unless necessary, it was best to avoid conflict with them.
"If only Uxie had invited me in too."
Li Xiang squinted, shaking the bell in his hand, lazily kicking his legs. If Uxie had invited him in, he could basically do whatever he wanted on Mist Island.
He wouldn't have to worry about anyone harming him.
A get-out-of-jail-free card!
Unfortunately, he couldn't even meet Uxie right now.
Thinking this, suddenly, the sound of rippling water came from behind him.
Li Xiang quickly turned his head and saw a handsome, extraordinary blue-furred wolf with a diamond-shaped hollowed-out crystal on its head and flowing purple hair.
It stood on the small pond, a circle of ripples spreading on the water surface.
They looked at each other.
Neither spoke. Both had an expression like, "What are you doing here?"
After a long moment, a thin mist rose around Suicune.
"Wait!"
Li Xiang stretched out his hand like a dramatic TV character and shouted, "What exactly is going to happen here? At least give me a hint before you leave! Bro! Sis!"
Suicune was undoubtedly a pioneer of justice, much like the three Swords of Justice.
Except the Swords of Justice in the anime only helped Pokémon, while what the Ho-Oh's guardians had shown so far was helping both people and Pokémon.
"..."
Suicune paused slightly, its face filled with perplexity, seemingly stimulated by Li Xiang's address.
But in the end, it said nothing and vanished into the mist.
Li Xiang quickly had Rotom use Defog, but by the time the white mist dissipated, Suicune's figure had long since disappeared.
"I... we've been through life and death together, at least. Ah, these legendaries, really."
He sighed. Having finally found traces of the Ho-Oh guardians, he let it slip away.
It was quite frustrating.
He took out the walkie-talkie used for communication.
Li Xiang quickly briefed Mo Ye and the others about encountering Suicune.
But just as he was speaking, the corner of his eye seemed to catch something shiny, extremely conspicuous, right by the edge of the small pond.
He quickly walked over and found a somewhat ornate bracelet, with a gold rim and a blue base, and a translucent aquamarine crystal at its center.
This thing definitely wasn't there before Suicune arrived, and its style looked a bit familiar.
Loopet!
The words flashed in Li Xiang's mind, and then his pupils abruptly dilated.
Loopet, a type of item in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, resembling a bracelet, possessing various incredible abilities.
In the game, you needed to talk to Legendary and Mythical Pokémon to obtain them.
He remembered that the bracelet gifted by Suicune had the effect of increasing the bearer's defensive ability.
But the Loopet bracelet had many holes for setting gems. Li Xiang examined this bracelet over and over, confirming that this thing had no place to set gems.
Could it be not a Loopet?
It shouldn't be. The style was unmistakably a bracelet. But why were there no settings?
Li Xiang measured the bracelet's size and found it fit perfectly around his wrist.
Hmm? It wasn't for Pokémon to wear.
He was stunned for a moment, then realized this was a personal gift from Suicune to him.
It might even be an item for saving his life.
Just as Li Xiang was pondering whether to put it on, Zhong Hai and the others came running over hastily.
The group questioned him in detail about the reasons and events, and used their Pokémon to search for traces of Suicune's departure.
They found nothing.
The whereabouts of Legendary Pokémon were always this hard to lock down.
Li Xiang didn't hesitate too much and told Zhong Hai and the others about the bracelet, but of course, only mentioned that it might have been given to him by Suicune.
He couldn't mention things like Loopets.
"Something like that happened?"
Zhong Hai was stunned, took the bracelet to examine it carefully, then handed it to Mo Ye. Mo Ye looked at it and passed it to the others.
No one found anything special, so they returned it to Li Xiang.
"Since it was given to you, keep it safe."
Zhong Hai patted his chest. Rangers don't steal other people's things, nor do they say things like, "For the sake of justice, you should voluntarily hand this over for us to study."
"Okay."
Li Xiang decisively put the bracelet on his wrist. Regardless of whether this thing was a Loopet, the fact that Suicune wouldn't harm him was definitely correct.
Zhong Hai and the others took photos of the scene and left.
Mo Ye glanced at the tree. A pink figure materialized and landed beside him.
"Don't leave the city."
He recalled Jellicent and switched to Starmie, also cautioning Li Xiang.
"Starmie!"
Starmie hopped and spun on the ground.
"Got it."
Li Xiang responded, curiously looking at this Pokémon beside him, composed of two blue starfish with an octagonal magnificent red gem on its chest.
He waited five minutes.
A familiar bird silhouette appeared on the horizon.
It was Corviknight and Riolu returning. From a distance, they didn't seem injured, instead looking cheerful, as if they had found something good.
"Riolu!"
Riolu waved a cloth bag, which seemed a bit heavy, swinging constantly.
A successful haul!
A look of pleasant surprise appeared on Li Xiang's face as he waved at the bird and dog.
Soon after, Corviknight landed with a flutter of wings in front of Li Xiang. Riolu loosened the reins and jumped down.
"Riolu."
It presented the cloth bag like offering a treasure, then spoke excitedly.
It spoke too quickly, and Li Xiang couldn't understand at first, so he had to wait for Rotom to translate.
"It says on the other side of the mountain, they saw a geyser, very spectacular. These gems flew right out of the geyser."
The translator did its job diligently.
Li Xiang opened the cloth bag and immediately saw over a dozen Fire Gems inside.
"Awesome!"
He happily scratched under Corviknight's and Riolu's chins. Adding the ones bought from Sableye, the count directly exceeded thirty.
This meant Incineroar could boost the power of its Fire-type moves more than thirty times.
But, the geyser on the other side of the mountain?
Li Xiang recalled the conversations between Zhong Hai and the others and immediately identified the special situation Ji Xiang had reported to them.
Geysers.
Normally, these didn't exist. They only appeared on Mist Island when the Mirage Island was about to manifest.
The scale of each geyser eruption was at least over thirty meters.
Misty Lake, Mist Island, Geysers, Loopets.
The sense of déjà vu from the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series grew stronger, leading Li Xiang to basically confirm that this world incorporated some settings from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.
Thinking this way, Misty Lake and Uxie could be matched, and the fog hindering entry also matched.
But Groudon's statue didn't exist. The scale of Mist Island was also much larger than Misty Lake.
The key was whether some of the important settings within it extended into this world.
Li Xiang kept thinking, recalling the contents of the Mystery Dungeon series. Unfortunately, there were still too few conditions. He couldn't be sure if his guesses were correct.
Even with many conjectures, he didn't dare tell Zhong Hai and the others, because firstly, he wasn't certain, and secondly, he couldn't explain the source of his information.
He spent the entire afternoon browsing the market again.
Regrettably, he couldn't find a third type of gem.
Li Xiang silently returned to the base and had dinner with the rangers.
Throughout this day, the time flow rate hadn't changed at all, still maintaining the two-to-one ratio compared to the outside world.
Furthermore, after testing, the gems he purchased with Pokéblocks were indeed Type-enhancing Gems.
The increase in move power was extremely considerable.
Just from the surge in flames when Incineroar used its moves, it was enough to determine that these items were incredibly valuable.
They had no side effects on the Pokémon themselves.
Perfect for burst damage.
As for the bell, its effect was similar to what the Steelix had said. It helped induce sleep when having trouble sleeping.
It was basically confirmed to be a Sooth Bell. Li Xiang found a way to make a collar and tied it around Riolu's neck for it to carry close to its body.
A certain big tiger was incredibly envious, but considering it had the Fire Gems, it didn't protest.
