From an ornithological perspective, the Peregrine falcon with a wingspan of 74-120cm is a medium-sized raptor, while the Saker falcon with a wingspan of 95-125cm is a medium-large raptor. There's not much difference in size between them, so it's no surprise that scholars focusing on raptor breeding would want to see offspring between peregrine and saker falcons.
