The straight-line distance from Jiamu Gully to Baisha is not far. If you're just going to the edge of the Baisha Administrative County, it's only twenty kilometers through the Hot Spring Valley.
But to reach the westernmost administrative village of Baisha, you must drive from Jiamu Gully Town, detouring along the mountain road on the other side of the High Mountain Valley, covering a distance of less than forty kilometers.
This road is entirely a winding mountain road, with one side being a deep valley and the other a steep cliff. In the most dangerous places, a slight mistake could send you tumbling into the valley or crashing into the mountain wall.
Without traffic jams, the forty kilometers of mountain road can be covered in forty to fifty minutes. With beginner drivers, you could be stuck for one or two hours.
