On April 20th, the Defense Hall held a press conference. Defense Minister Ozawa Ichiro stated that according to the Defense Hall's investigation and with the active cooperation of the staff director of the Sea Guard and the Maritime Security Bureau, it had been verified that a certain third-class land officer of the Sea Guard had long colluded with the Deputy Director of the Ocean Intelligence Department of the Maritime Security Bureau to engage in illegal smuggling activities. This case implicated seven Sea Guard soldiers and thirteen Maritime Security Bureau members, who would face strict legal penalties.
