As Kiyono Lin's words fell, Dubian Che recited the first line of the script:
"Girl, good morning."
"Good morning, Mr. Demon." Jiutiao Meijie immediately got into character, her tone light and carrying a hint of excitement and anticipation.
"Are you packing your bags? Where are you heading?" Dubian Che asked politely.
"To a place without demons." Jiutiao Meijie paused slightly, the script here stated she should sling her bag over her shoulder, "Goodbye, Mr. Demon."
"Demons will always exist where humans do," Dubian Che said, "Where can you go?"
The girl did not answer, closed the wooden door, and left the demon inside the house.
The girl got up very early, while it was still dim outside; in this secluded suburban town, she was the only one—this was when demons were at their weakest, unable to move quickly.
The girl trekked long distances, avoiding crowds, walking alone in the wilderness.
Every day, as soon as she opened her eyes, the demon was there beside her.
