Two weeks have gone by since the attack happened. Minas' heart still throbbed when she remembered Aaron whenever she hugged her baby. Mina thought she was getting some peace. A part of her wished he had stayed. There are plenty of rooms in this mansion. He could have occupied one. But he decided to leave. The mansion was repaired, the grounds were quiet, and she was close to her baby again. Thanks to Olivia. She was convinced Aaron was out of her life for good, until she saw him on her street. She froze with Ellie in her arms. She clutched her baby- a cry came from Ellie. Alerting her she was hurting her baby.
"I'm sorry baby." She said as she hugged her on her chest. However, her gaze didn't leave the man she had just seen. A sleek black car pulled into the driveway of the vacant villa three houses down. Men in tailored suits immediately moved to unload boxes. While a realtor handed papers with a smile.
And he stepped out.
Aaron. Her heart lurched, the air catching in her throat. He was in a black coat, sleeves rolled, eyes hidden behind sunglasses, but she could recognise him anywhere. He signed the last papers mumming something to the realtor, and then, as if he felt her stare, he lifted his head straight towards her. Their eyes locked across the distance, and Aaron's gaze landed on the baby she was hugging.
Minas' chest burned. Her motherly instinct kicked in.
"What are you doing here?" She called out, her voice cutting the space between them.
Aaron removed his sunglasses. Tucking them into his pocket. His gaze was steady, his tone calm. But he couldn't stop his hands from trembling. His baby was in front of him. Their baby.
"I bought the place, princess. I told you I wasn't going anywhere."
Mina's breath caught. Her pulse pounded as the meaning of his words sank in.
"You can't be serious."
"I'm very serious, princess. I meant every single shitty thing I said."
"Language, Aaron. I have a baby in my hand." She reprimanded him
A smirk tugged on his lips.
"I can see that, baby. I'm sorry. I wouldn't let our baby learn a bad word from me."
Mina rolled her eyes; however, she couldn't hide the smile that crept on her lips.
" D...do you wanna hold her?" She whispered.
Aaron froze on the spot. Was she allowing him to hold their baby?
"Can I?"
"I just fucking asked you, moron."
"Language, baby. You wouldn't be happy if our baby learns a bad word."
Mina scoffed.
"You. You sly fox."
Aaron chuckled. God. It feels so good to chuckle like this. It's been a long time since one got out of his mouth.
He stretched his hands towards her. Mina nibbled with her lips before she pulled Ellie away from her. Ellie gripped her dress tightly.
"It's OK, baby. Mommy, it's just here."
Fear filled her eyes. Her grip tightened even harder on Mina.
"It's fine if she doesn't want to let go of you. At least I know you were a great mom." Aaron smiled at her.
