Aaron carried her through the smoke-choked corridor, kicking open the door at the end - a guest room, less destroyed like the others. He laid her gently on the bed his hands instantly pressing down on her wound, his voice low and frantic.
"You're going to be fine. Do you hear me? I'd get you through this. I'm sorry I lied to you but I'm ready to burn the whole world for your forgiveness." His forehead still against hers, his whisper rough;
" I'm ready to accept any punishment you give me."
She nibbles on her lip. The pain was too much, however, she looked at Aaron with glassy eyes.
" Was it funny? Lying to me when I needed you the most?" Her voice quivers
" I'm sorry, princess. I had to do it for your sake. Please forgive." He said with his forehead still pressed to her forehead.
Mina turned to face somewhere else.
" Just call the doctor, Aaron." Her voice was cold, but her eyes betrayed the fear it held.
"Yes, princess" He sniffed back the tears.
Aaron moved to the corner of the room to call the doctor. With his fingers through his hair and one hand on his hip. Mina stared at him blankly. She didn't know how she'd react to this. She had survived all these months without him, only for him to show up-unannounced. He made her believe his dead. He made her raise their baby on her own and now this. A tear slipped down her face, but she refused to wipe it away. She just hopes her baby is alright. Olivia wouldn't think about escaping even if she had bad intentions. The secret room had only one way out, and that was behind her bags.
"The do-, please don't cry Mina. It hurts me to see you cry."
" Then maybe you shouldn't have come back, Aaron. You should have made me believe you were dead." She said choking on her words.
Aaron flinched. The silence swallowed the room.
"I thought I made the right decision. I.... I thought I was protecting you from her. I-"
Mina wiped away her tears. Thus wasn't the time to act emotionally.
" When is the doctor coming?"
"Soon." He replied.
He didn't push further. He understood she didn't want to talk about him appearing out of the blue.
He fidgets with his fingers- his shoulders flopping.
"H-how is she doing? I didn't see her when I entered your room."
" She's fine. You don't need to ask about her after all she is mine. My baby."
"Yeah."
The door swung open, and the doctor peeked into the room.
A sigh of relief left her mouth. She was grateful the doctor was here because this was awkward for both of them.
"Can you please leave?" Mina said.
" Oh, he can stay. I don't mind." The doctor exclaimed.
Mina rolled her eyes.
"I do. Please leave."
Aaron pressed his lips together before he nodded.
" I'd stand outside. I'm not going anywhere."
" You can vanish into thin air, I don't care. After all, you died eight months ago." Her voice trembled.
His heart stopped for a while. But he accepted his fate. He did 'die', but he was back. The pain was unbearable. He'd rather be shot in the chest than be treated like that by her.
"E...excuse me." His body swayed before he opened the door.
The door clicked softly against the wall.
