"They're too expensive within the clan, and besides, I'm here to sell supplies," Shimizu Uchiha explained.
He told Uchiha Yakumi that these supplies were gathered from missions over the years, acquired by eliminating enemy ninja who carried valuable resources. The spoils from defeating hostile ninja—ordinary ninja gear—didn't need to be handed over to the clan. Only certain high-level ninjutsu scrolls had to be submitted to bolster the village's jutsu archive. Since Shimizu wasn't selling an excessive amount, his excuse held water.
"If you're buying ninja tools, go through the clan. The quality's better. It's best to use top-notch equipment. In a fight between ninja, it's life or death—you can't afford to be careless," Yakumi reminded Shimizu.
The clan's channels, along with other ninja tool merchants, offered significant discounts to the Uchiha, though even with the discount, their prices were still higher than the market's. Most clan members were willing to pay the premium—quality came at a cost, and no one living with their head on the line wanted to skimp on gear.
"I understand," Shimizu nodded.
It wasn't that he hadn't considered selling through the clan, but their buyback prices were lower than what he could get outside. To make a bit more, Shimizu deliberately chose external markets.
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Shimizu took his leave. Instead of heading home, he went to another location to purchase a considerable amount of daily necessities—and some... interrogation tools.
Carrying a sealing scroll, Shimizu walked to his bedroom. He lightly tapped a wooden panel to the right of his bed. A black sealing jutsu pattern flickered, and with a soft pop, the panel opened, revealing a narrow tunnel leading to a hidden chamber, roughly thirty square meters in size.
This secret room had taken him three days to construct. Using Earth Release ninjutsu, he'd shaped a basic rectangular space, then reinforced it with wooden planks and pillars for support. Hanging on the planks were various "interrogation tools."
This chamber was specifically designed by Shimizu for interrogating captives. He placed the newly purchased tools on the wall, arranging them neatly.
"Next time, let's have Rin as the first guest," he murmured.
The chamber was divided into two sections, separated by a metal grate. Shimizu had crafted this prison-like barrier on a whim, and though it had sat unused for a while, it was perfect for this purpose.
"All right, let's check this simulation," he said.
[Current simulation count: 1. Would you like to start the Perfect Life Simulation?]
"Begin," Shimizu commanded.
[Ding! Perfect Life Simulation in progress...]
[Day 1: You treated an Uchiha clan member who lost an eyeball. The socket was empty. Upon inquiry, you learned he was ambushed by Kumogakure ninja and struck by a kunai.]
[Day 2: You pondered whether a Sharingan pierced by a kunai could ever recover. There have been no known cases of Sharingan regeneration. You recalled Boruto, where Sasuke's Six Tomoe Rinnegan was blinded by a plain kunai, and even afterward, it was never healed, leaving him permanently without one eye.]
[Day 3: You considered whether to start using a recorder.]
[Day 4: In your office, you discussed research with Nohara Rin. A Hyuga main branch member lost one Byakugan due to a bacterial infection that spread to the entire socket. Perhaps due to the Byakugan's unique nature, the other eye began showing sympathetic ophthalmia, with symptoms three times worse than normal.]
[Day 5: Hyuga Ginka wept all day, as the one who lost his Byakugan was her fiancé.]
[Day 6: You watched as medical ninja struggled with the Byakugan case, unwilling to risk blinding it completely. Who knew how the Hyuga would react? You overheard one medical ninja quietly praise Ao from Kirigakure for his work. You suspected Ginka had made quite a few enemies.]
[Day 36: Orochimaru invited you to join him again. You declined.]
[Day 37: On the street, you ran into Jiraiya, who had returned to deliver intelligence. Even from fifty meters away, you could smell the blood on him.]
[Day 38: Shizune was healing patients, while Tsunade was nowhere to be found. Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen visited the hospital and was visibly displeased by Tsunade's absence. You kept your head down, focusing on treating patients.]
[Day 39: You scolded Nohara Rin, and she ran off in tears.]
[Day 89: Kushina invited you to eat ramen. The two of you went to Ichiraku Ramen, only to find the shop closed.]
[Day 90: You overheard a conversation between Kushina and Mikoto. Mikoto told Kushina that Teuchi, Ichiraku's owner, had closed the shop temporarily because his daughter was ill and he was busy tending to her.]
[Day 91: Kushina was visibly worried. Minato hadn't returned in a long time. You went to comfort her.]
[Day 162: Since joining the Anbu, Kakashi has grown colder. You wondered if something had happened.]
[Day 163: Through another Anbu colleague, you learned Kakashi prioritized a comrade over the mission's importance. That comrade blamed Kakashi for it.]
[Day 163: The comrade who blamed Kakashi joined the Root. You suspected Danzo had set a trap, having figured out Kakashi's true nature and seeing him as a useful pawn.]
[Day 322: You visited the Land of Grass and saw a prison for ninja. You met the warden of Hozuki Castle, who was shocked by your Heavenly Prison Fire Sword, suspecting his own was a fake.]
[Day 323: You continued touring the prison, secretly studying ninjutsu.]
[Day 332: On your way back, passing through a small town, you learned Jiraiya was wanted in the Land of Grass for hooliganism and peeping.]
[Day 869: Konohagakure welcomed many newborns, some of whom you helped bring into the world.]
[Day 870: Might Guy shone brilliantly on a mission. Hearing his inspiring deeds, you grew envious of the Eight Gates Formation. You began to wonder if maintaining a balance point for unlocking the body's chakra-restricting pathways could allow someone to live in a constant state of the Eight Gates, drastically enhancing their physical strength.]
[Day 2831: Together with Nohara Rin, you developed cloning technology, capable of creating life in a mother's womb with 60% similarity to the parent.]
[Day 2832: You decided it would be safer to personally give birth to Sasuke and Naruto, wondering if raising them as a father could keep them in check.]
