Chapter 50 - Rebirth

Corinth Baltinoir.

Son of Charles Baltinoir, and Lindsey Albert, an actress.

Charles, is a player that came into light when he, as one of the Seven Heroes, along with the other three, one from each families, cleared the first Raid Boss - the Chimera King, the Seventh Disciple.

When the news of it went out, many jumped to the game, and experienced it. And they knew what talent the four of them had.

Now, they are in their forties, and all of them had some issues, or news that their past self will be ashamed and won't continue on their path.

Too bad, they don't know what kind of scandals their future self will do.

And one of these scandals is Corinth and Carlay.

Charles, had a wife at 25, who supported him in everything he did. His game, his passion, and even in his career. The woman supported her.

Her name is Jane Galve, a fellow martial artist from the same dojo Charles attended, who is also the daughter of the dojo master.

While Jane focused on her body, Charles focused on his mind, that later on, he used in games.

Moving forward, the two developed their feelings, and eventually, decided to get married. At first, the dojo master stopped them, that also made Jane quit the dojo, to go with Charles.

Charles, on the other hand, followed his path as a gamer. Although they have no kids, they love each other.

Jane would sometimes wait for Charles to come home from the Pod Parlor, a shop where gaming pods can be rented per hour and is paid in Myrrhs.

Jane, has a stable income that time. Knowing her ins and outs, she entered the world of business and decided to thrive in there.

But, there were moments that Jane's investments fall down, and she gets so frustrated, that she can't do the chores at home.

Which made the two argue a lot.

Charles needed money to continue on his career, and when Jane can't give him some, he makes it difficult for her.

He sometimes gets abusive, and hurls hurtful words at Jane, but Jane endured for her love, and she chose him, over her family.

Jane got good at business, and in time, she managed her own time, and Charles, wallowing with the things he gets from Jane, changed.

He will splurge the money Jane gives her, and gamble.

This was also the time he invested in Project: Zerø, where he always overgears himself, and brute forces the game.

And that was when he became a professional player.

That made his head think that he was the best: with a wife like Jane, and his skills, he thought he conquered the world.

He became an instant celebrity. Going in and out of the country, splurging himself more.

That was when he met Lindsey, who became his compmanion.

Lindsey, being an actress, and oppotunist, took herself ahead, and one night, he drugged Charles.

The hero fell for the beauty.

Charles went home to Jane after that, and he lived there for two months, which was abruptly stopped, due to the news that Lindsey was pregnant.

At first, they didn't know who the father is, but further investigation led to a punch on his face, and his head having bunch of hair pulled out.

That was the reason he is bald today.

Jane's father had beaten him up. Jane just stopped him, and decided to go back to the dojo.

Charles, without further ado, was arrested, but not of crime, but of celebration, as they pranked him.

Little did they know that he was just beaten up that day, and people thought that the ones who arrested him did that to him.

Although like that, Charles woke up to the things he did.

Losing Jane, he realized what he had done.

But, he is now here, with Lindsey.

He then walked as a player for the next two years, but stopped when Lindsey announced their second child, Cassandra.

This was also the time the other three focused on making teams for games.

After a few years, when Carlay was seven, Project: Zerø's predecessor game, League of Hero, came as a meteor.

The four competed in it, and Charles won.

This made another party for them, which made them see each other almost after a decade.

And there she was, Jane, who he took away from himself, smiling and giggling. He couldn't stop himself from falling over again.

One thing led to another, and Charles found himself wrapped around Jane.

This invited another round of beating from Jane's father, but this time, he begged.

For forgiveness, and for her hand again.

But, what met him is the sole of a foot on his face, and a kick on his shiny head.

"I thought it was a ball."

That line hit the headlines, as Jane's father shouted it out while kicking Charles' head.

It became fire, but died down a month after, because Jane was diagnosed with leukemia.

What made it more downcasting is the news that she was pregnant two months after.

This made Charles step up completely, and took care of Jane.

He treated everyday like it's the last, and every time they wake up, they celebrate as if it's the last.

Months came, and every one has their own team for the League of Heroes, and Magic Nights, under the lead of the butler, Se

But, a joyous mourning happened.

The day Jane birthed her son, she died.

That's when Constantine was born.

And the deep hatred of Corinth lies in the fact that he is the firstborn, but he was not loved like Constantine.

He is a being born from sin, and he wants legitimacy.

And now, holding the weakness of his brother in his hand, he felt it.

The joy, the exhilaration, the ecstasy of proving that he is better than his younger sibling.

The slippery eel that escaped Charles, and the strategist that beaten up his brother, fell to his cunning trap.

Suppressing his laughter, he looked at the boy in his hand.

He is also almost twenty, like his bastard brother, rather the bastard child.

As he looked up, what he saw made him grit his teeth in anger, but he hid it with a big smile.

"Would you look at that."

He said, as he stared at Zypher's eyes, who was looking down at him.

Cold, indifferent, deep. What he saw scared him, even if he is the hunter, and the prey is in his hand.

He still shuddered by the deepness of his eyes, plus the uncertainty of how he escaped the two, who people say that was better than him.

By thinking about it, he shook his head, and laughed.

They are wrong in his eyes, because right now, the beast they failed to catch, is now on his hands, and he did not even use any strength.

He is better.

... that's what he told himself.

"Such deep gaze."

He said as he choke Zypher, only to feel that the prey he is holding...

.. doesn't react.

He made it tighter, which invited resistance from Zypher, but that was all. He maintained his deep eye contact, and his hands is not holding onto Corinth's hand.

"Haaaaaaa."

He sighed long, and decided to push it further.

"Lion Aura."

Corin, the in-game character of Corinth, is a martial artist who specializes in qi release.

He has four stances, and each stance has a myriad of skills.

The one he is using right now is the Lion Stance. That means, he also has four battle auras.

He then strengthened his grip, but Zypher just looked at him.

When he tightened it more, he saw an unexpected reaction, Zypher grabbed his hand and was trying to go out of it.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. AND HERE I THOUGHT YOU WERE TOUGH!"

"That..was..rich considering..you had to...use your..aura."

Zypher said as he placed his feet on Corinth's body, to push himself away, but his grip is too strong.

"Stop being so slippery."

He laughed, but then, Zypher, stopped.

Zypher, smiled, and uttered the words.

"Three."

"Huh?"

"Two."

"What are you counting down for?" Corinth smirked.

"One."

"A countdown to your death?" He gripped tighter as he said this.

"Boundless Silhouette."

Corinth closed his hand, but what he was holding now, is shadows.

Boundless Steps Special Skill: Silhouette.

The ninth Step, and the one that completes the Boundless Steps.

Boundless Silhouette, is a two part skill.

First is, the user must have used the first eight, in any order, and all are in cooldown.

And the next is, it waits for the next Step to finish it's cooldown before it can activate its effect.

Which is to travel 20 meters away from his current position.

"Oh? You're still hiding something?" Corinth sneered.

"Unlike you, whose cards are all shown."

Corinth just smiled and created a finger gun, and aimed at Zypher.

Zypher saw the red dot on his forehead, which he rolled over, and a bullet struck the place where he was standing earlier.

"BRIAR! MISSILE!"

Two summons appeared as Briar threw Missile towards Zypher.

Missile's use is simple, steal others' skills.

And Zypher saw something he wants to steal.

"Boundless Pace."

With one step, he arrived beside Corinth, summoning Charity, and stabbing him.

Missile's small slime hit Corinth, but because he has some resists, the copying only has 10%.

And within the skill pool of Corinth, he doesn't know how much time he will fight.

For now, Briar is dealing with the two mages and the artillerist.

The pressure is different if it was two versus four, but Zypher decided to take this skill now, because it is the skill that he always wanted to take in his past life.

First stab, second stab, third stab, met with one fist, one kick, and one chop.

Zypher then spun his body to stab Corinth again, but he is much faster that his counterattack arrived before Zypher's Charity.

Though, Zypher expected that.

Using his other steps earlier, he made it into this moment.

"Boundless Silhouette."

Before the counterattack arrived, Zypher was already far away, with the small slime in his dagger, which the critical strike triggered, and popped like a balloon.

And still, he didn't get the skill that he wants.

But, he was able to take ones he didn't want, yet helpful.

Now that the next steps have been refreshed, he went to Corinth again.

Using One Man Army, he took Corinth's speed stat, and stacked with his agility stat, which made him faster.

And that was his escape path.

Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop.

Pops were heard from their battle, but it can be seen that no one has the upper hand in the battle, until something unexpected happened.

"Stun Fist!"

A fist skill, which sends out a punch that stuns the enemy, without fail.

The only way to fight against this is to block the attack, which Corinth didn't do as it took him by surprise.

This took one second of stun, which Zypher didn't waste.

Triple Stab. Lighting Triple Stab.

Six stabs in succession, and at last, his efforts bore fruit.

But then, a punch was sent to him without hesitation.

Stun Fist.

The skill he just used, used against him, in the same manner he used.

Whirlwind Kick.

Corinth spun his body and delivered a kick to Zypher.

If he hadn't changed the One Man Army's stat to defense, he could've died then and there.

As he was flying away, Corinth jumped towards the air, chasing the flying Zypher.

Axe Kick.

He then flipped and delivered an axe kick towards Zypher, and when Zypher fell down the ground, he made a sign on his hand as he fell down.

"Falcon Stamp!"

He shouted as his speed picked up, trying to pin down the now injured Zypher.

BANG!

Clouds of dust covered the whole place.

"Haaaaah." Corinth sighed.

He then dusted his clothes.

"Is that all?"

Corinth shouted, as if he was checking if his opponent is still alive.

He waited.

1 second.

5 seconds.

10 seconds.

Nothing.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

He laughed maniacally.

The thing, the very thing that made his father and the bastard antagonist of his life hard, was done by him.

He is superior. He is better than them. He exceeds them.

CAAAAAAW!

A strong shout awakened him from his drunken stupor.

He looked up, only to see the maggot he thought was dead, was riding a red majestic bird.

The bird has eight majestic tails that flutter with the wind. It has different colors, and each one has different element.

The horns on it's head are like brows that extended, but is like a majestic addition to it's head.

White feathers cover it's body, but red tinged it at the base.

Briar, wass also standing at the back of the majestic bird, as well as Missile who is bouncing up and down on her shoulder.

Tattered, battered, and injured, Zypher created a finger gun as he pointed at Corinth.

He shot the finger gun, which made Corinth grit his teeth.

"Let's go, Saxon."

He said.

But then, a sniper shot hit Saxon.

That very moment, Zypher and his gand fell towards the sealed dungeon.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! SERVES YOU RIGHT, MAGGOT!"

Corinth laughed at the demise of his enemy.

As he stopped, he looked around and saw the Burnts.

He then stomped and sent a shockwave to send the Burnts away.

He then clapped his hands once to clean up the dust.

That was when an egg rolled up to his feet.

"Lady luck is smiling at me today."
