Chapter 35 - The Preeminence of a Gamer: Speedrun 8.1

"I was so worried that you left school early. I thought something might've happened," an angelic voice filled his ears the moment her emerald orbs landed on him.

Bowing his head, Issei looked extremely apologetic at the excommunicated nun, feeling as if he let her down. "Sorry, Asia... I know I left you by yourself in class. You must've felt a ton more nervous alone..."

Asia shook her head in denial. "I was more worried about you. I thought for sure you had gotten wrapped up in something horrible again." The memories of his brief battle with the devil still weighed on her. Though there hadn't been any sounds of a clash or anything, she still couldn't help fretting over those possibilities of more cruel people showing up. An elegant smile appeared across her lips, her complexion warming up the room. "I'm happy nothing bad happened..."

Issei felt himself flush at her kindness. That innocent face could melt away his perverse depravity like a candle to wax, filling him with ease. It also made him feel more guilty that such a sweet girl who was frightened on her first day of school still put him first. He found himself lowering his head again. "N-nothing happened... just me with my big head goofing around as always. Sorry about that, hopefully you won't get used to it..." He chuckled self-deprecatingly, embarrassed to show this irresponsible side of himself to her.

Her initial worries of danger had faded, replaced with a motherly look of concern. Moving closer to him, Asia tenderly scanned over his figure for any signs of illness. "Were you feeling bad? Did your stomach get upset?"

His face reddening deeper, Issei lightly took a step back from the blonde, her flowery scent tickling his nose and daring his perverted senses to move in, which the good guy inside refused. "N-no... well, kinda... It cleared up and I'm all better now, see? Nothing can keep your boy Issei down." Giving her a complacent grin, he played off his disappearance without confessing what actually happened with Sona.

It appeared to work on Asia, as her face brightened back up with a sunny smile. She was considerate enough to avoid digging for further details, having full faith in him as a person, and adoring his playful remarks.

The person sitting nearby on the sofa, however, wasn't buying it.

Quiet sighs and slippery sounds escaped the white-haired loli as she suckled along her own loli - a nice blue raspberry flavor. She simply stared up at him over the nun's shoulder with a slight accusatory look, her amber eyes not quite searing nor icy, yet bold enough to usurp his attention like a fly to a bug zapper.

The moment his eyes met hers, he knew this wasn't the end of it. Asia might've been naive and kind enough not to grill him for answers, but Koneko certainly wasn't above putting his ass over the frier. He wanted to forget about the whole ordeal with Sona, or at least bury it until he could talk to her again and figure things out. With the short devil's ability to read him like a porno mag, that information was probably going to get yanked out of him sooner than he'd like.

Better not delay it then. Issei wanted to talk to Koneko as well. That Quest Alert he had gotten from his system had sparked worry inside him, and he needed to know more. She was supposedly depressed, yet looking at her as she was right now, it didn't seem that way at all. She looked as stoic and unobtrusive as always.

That made him even more worried. Had she always been depressed, and no one could ever tell because of her lack of expressiveness? Or had it developed recently, and she was simply good at hiding it?

He was going to get to the bottom of it.

Touching Asia's shoulders affectionately, Issei gave her a small, pleading look. "I promise to make it up to you. I want you to tell me all about your day and not hold anything back. We can do our homework together, and then I'll take you wherever you wanna go, or whatever you want to do."

Asia gasped softly, surprised by the forward declaration as she blushed. "Y-you don't have to do all that for me."

"I want to, so please allow me." His fingers tightened gently, emphasizing his desire to make amends despite her forgiveness. "We'll do anything you want, just give me a few minutes to speak with Koneko, okay?"

The devil looked somewhat surprised at that, while Asia's green eyes gleamed, the thought of spending the day or more with Issei filling her with excitement. His small request didn't bother her or register as anything but innocuous as she nodded. "O-okay then. There were so many things that happened today, and I would love to share them with you whenever you have the time."

Grateful towards the nun, Issei smiled and rubbed her head, which made her both coo and flush in embarrassment. He glanced over at Koneko as she stood up from the couch as they made their way over towards the front door. Shutting the door behind them, he could see Asia quickly rush off to aid his mother, as it seemed she was getting in the habit of doing.

Such a helpful girl...

"What do you want, dog breath?" Koneko's gruff, feminine voice called behind him as she pulled out the lollipop, her pink lips popping in a way that sent shutters down his spine.

"You were the one who seemed like you wanted to ask me stuff... that's what it felt like anyway," Issei answered, ignoring her insult and seeking her own questions. He'd rather get them out the way first before asking his own.

One of her hands fell to her hip, and Issei couldn't help his eyes trailing down towards it. Hearing her huff at his obviousness quickly snapped his attention back to her face, only to be met with a disdainful stare. "You went to go train... Did you really cut class for that?"

"No... Not at first, anyway..." The tiny girl silently waited for him to continue, her eyes narrowing inquisitively. Humiliation surged upward as he thought about how he bolted away from losing his virginity and through several hallways of students, his words caught in his throat. "Let's just say... some stuff happened in the student council room and I had to get up outta there..."

Koneko physically reeled, shock spilling out across her face. Issei really didn't want to confess to anymore, hoping the vague implication was enough to queue her in. It was more than enough, as the little girl seemed to take it in the worst way possible. Her eyes fell to his crotch as she pinched her nose, her eyes lighting up as she appeared to realize something before staring back up at him with disgust. "Gross. Despicable. Foul. Lecher. Sleaze."

Issei gaped in horror, his arms waving frantically. "N-no, Koneko! You got it all wrong! We didn't do anything!"

Her hazel orbs became deadly sharp as they trailed back down. "That faint odor..."

He felt the color drain from him. Her and that dang nose! This was exactly what he had feared!

"We didn't do it! I just jerked off thinking about it, that's all!"

His words hadn't consoled her, making Koneko's interpretation of the events worse as she curled away in abhorrence. "You what...?"

The boy felt himself nearly bite off his tongue, immediately regretting his words. "H-hold on-"

"Putrid."

"W-wait-"

"Sicko."

"No, no, no! Just listen!" He pleaded, nearly falling to his knees as he begged her to hear him out, turning towards the front door hoping their conversation wasn't being picked up by the other residents indoors. Thankfully it hadn't yet, and his head turned back to meet her disparaging gaze.

"Fucker."

"Hear me out, Koneko. Please?" He clapped his hands together, a praying gesture of submission to the cat-devil.

Her face remained scrunched up, unnerved by all the ideas that had entered her mind. It had bothered her much more than she realized, and sent a weird, throbbing pain throughout her chest. Seeing his plea and feeling the need to ascertain the details, she begrudgingly nodded, depositing her sucker back into her mouth.

Relieved she would listen, Issei sighed and attempted to formulate an adequate explanation. "I didn't do anything... crazy, in the student council room. I ran away back home... and uh, you know the rest." His face lit up, his earlier confession still fresh in their minds.

Koneko frowned, an almost imperceivable shudder escaping her as she recalled his words. "What happened in there?"
