Before Ash could say anything, Black Kyurem stepped forward and unleashed a blast of Icy Wind from its draconic maw!
The freezing gale collided head-on with the incoming Dragon Breath, canceling it out in midair.
"ROOOAAR!!"
Swoosh!
The Black Rayquaza, seeing Kyurem boldly stepping in to shield a human Trainer, seemed utterly infuriated.
Like a phantom, its massive body blinked through the air—despite being a great distance away, it instantly appeared right in front of Kyurem!
A colossal Dragon Tail attack whipped down—slamming viciously into Kyurem's chest!
Boom!
Black Kyurem was launched like a missile, crashing back through the skies.
Mewtwo's eyes narrowed as it swiftly teleported Ash and Pikachu to safety with psychic precision.
The impact from that blow had been terrifying—Mewtwo wasn't taking any chances.
This time, it even transformed into Mega Mewtwo Y, its psychic form more agile for fast-paced aerial maneuvers.
"ROOOAAR!!"
Even as it reeled in the distance, Black Kyurem locked its glowing eyes onto the legendary dragon of the sky.
Energy surged from within.
Suddenly, centered around Rayquaza, a 1,000-meter-wide frozen domain erupted in every direction—a swirling field of frost-blue energy enveloped the space!
Glaciate!
Kyurem's signature move, still accessible even in its fused form as Black Kyurem.
Upon assuming its Black form, Kyurem unlocked three distinct domains:
Frost Domain
Dragon Domain
And the combined Frost-Dragon Domain
This move, Glaciate, summoned a pure Frost Domain. And within it—snow, ice, and wind acted in harmony, dealing continuous quadruple ice-type damage!
"SKREEE!!"
Rayquaza hadn't expected such a ferocious counterattack.
This place, the skies above the Sword of the Vale, was one of Rayquaza's favorite sanctuaries.
Below lay the source of the dragon leyline, a pure reservoir of Dragon-type energy. That's why it lingered here, cloaked in cloud.
Now, that very sanctuary exploded with icy force!
BOOOM!!
The Frost Domain shattered into icy shockwaves, cracking the skies apart with thunderous force.
The titanic clash between the two Legendary Pokémon could've devastated cities—luckily, they were so high above the earth.
Rayquaza was clearly angered now.
The earlier Glaciate explosion had wounded it.
Suddenly, it retaliated with a Hyper Beam, the destructive ray slicing through the heavens, striking Kyurem with pinpoint rage.
Then came another strike—Rayquaza's gleaming Dragon Claw, swinging down like a divine blade!
"ROOAR!"
But Kyurem wasn't about to yield. As the strongest land dragon, even now in its primal fused form, it met the claw head-on!
Dragon Claw vs. Dragon Claw—a clash of two apex dragons!
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Metallic echoes rang through the air like colliding titans.
The shockwaves from the strikes rippled outward like invisible tsunamis—any aircraft in the vicinity would've been torn apart without mercy.
Mega Mewtwo Y raised a glowing barrier of psychic energy, shielding Ash and Pikachu from the blast radius.
Ash's heart pounded in awe. The sheer power on display left him speechless.
If his body hadn't been enhanced—his vision sharpened beyond normal human limits—he wouldn't have been able to see any of it.
"Pikachu…"
Pikachu was equally stunned. It was witnessing a clash of legendary beasts far beyond anything it had ever known.
Claws raked across scales, showering sparks through the sky.
Both Pokémon, fueled by sheer will and primal strength, slammed into one another again and again.
Then—
BOOM!
With a snarl, Kyurem landed a brutal claw strike, sending Rayquaza flying.
Its body crackled with surging energy.
Purple-blue lightning surrounded Black Kyurem, forming a massive electric orb, etched with crisscrossing currents—like a glowing, deadly cage.
Fusion Bolt—the crossover move it shared with Zekrom!
Rayquaza responded with a concentrated Dragon Pulse, fired like a blazing energy sphere.
The two attacks collided in midair—an explosion of light and power shaking the skies!
And yet—Kyurem wasn't finished.
Even as the collision raged, it encased itself in a colossal ice sphere, channeling and condensing power.
A perfect setup...
From within the mushroom-cloud-shaped explosion, Rayquaza burst forth, twisting through the air like a divine serpent.
It lifted its head and roared toward the heavens—something inside it was changing.
Ash's eyes widened.
"No… it's going to Mega Evolve—return to its primal form!"
This was bad.
Even in its current state, Black Kyurem couldn't definitively defeat this Rayquaza.
But once it Mega Evolved—its strength would surpass even that of a super-legendary.
But Kyurem wasn't going down without a final blow.
It finished charging.
Wrapped in icy lightning, it launched itself—the entire frozen sphere smashing toward Rayquaza's transforming form.
Freeze Shock!!
BOOOOOOOM!!!
Thunder raged. Storm winds howled.
"Return, Kyurem! We're not ready for this fight yet!"
As the Freeze Shock struck Rayquaza dead-on, Ash immediately recalled Kyurem into its Master Ball, then gestured to Mewtwo.
"Teleport us out. Now!"
FWOOSH!
In a flash of light, the sky was silent once more—leaving only Rayquaza, floating amidst clouds still crackling with residual frost and thunder.
Its golden draconic eyes surveyed the airspace.
The intruders had fled.
Rayquaza turned, inspecting the fresh three-claw scar now raked across its back.
"ROOOAARRRR!!"
The dragon bellowed—but did not proceed with Mega Evolution.
No need. The threat was gone. The message had been sent.
It turned and glided silently back into the dense clouds, returning to absorb the dragon-charged atmosphere above the leyline.
…
Elsewhere…
Mewtwo had randomly teleported to a new location— Accumula Townby sheer coincidence.
FLASH!
Ash, Pikachu, and Kyurem materialized from thin air.
But before Ash could say anything—
"Why didn't you let me finish the fight!?"
Kyurem, now back in its standard form, had emerged voluntarily from its Master Ball, still burning with battle rage.
"You're not strong enough yet," Ash said, shaking his head.
"It was preparing to Mega Evolve. If that had happened, we would've stood no chance."
"But one day… Kyurem… we'll face it again."
This was Ash's first true retreat.
The difference in level had been insurmountable.
Even with his training and Kyurem's evolution, the gap was clear. The Shiny Black Rayquaza was simply beyond their current power.
To capture a Legendary Pokémon, it wasn't enough to fight—it had to willingly submit.
Even now, Kyurem and Ash's relationship was still a partnership, not total allegiance.
Suddenly, Ash's expression changed.
Kyurem hadn't noticed its power leaking out—its claws still rested on the ground.
The grassy field beneath them had already frozen over!
"Return to your ball, Kyurem. I promise—we'll win next time."
Kyurem complied and vanished back into its Master Ball. The frozen field finally stopped spreading.
But just off to the side…
Hidden in the shadows near a nearby shed, a small Tepig was trembling, its thin frame curled in fear.
