Mei Ya watched her husband ramble on; the folks back home were indeed somewhat annoying and shameless, but their family hadn't spent that much money—not even close. You'd have to cut that amount in half at least, and as for mother-in-law's two coats, they originally were around ten thousand each, but she had a membership card, and there was already a discount when buying them. Both together cost about six thousand.
Regarding taking the Fifth Aunt's child to the mall, indeed some money was spent on clothes and toys—almost ten thousand. But the bulk of it was on the electronic piano bought for their daughter.
Still, seeing her mother-in-law so distressed was amusing yet satisfying; maybe in the future she wouldn't host those folks anymore! There's nothing wrong with spending a little money on themselves instead, right?
