Chen Xixi laid her phone near her ear, and just as the second cue from the earpiece sounded, she heard a ringtone.
Then, she saw Zhou Jinyuan pulling a phone out of his suit pocket, and he turned the screen towards her. After seeing the caller ID, her heart skipped a beat.
That number... was hers.
Chen Xixi exclaimed in shock, "You're that... scammer who wanted to harvest my kidneys?"
Zhou Jinyuan slightly pursed his lips, "I just heard you were unemployed at the time, so I wanted to help you out. I had no ill intentions towards your kidneys."
And by the way, help himself.
He hadn't expected such a huge mix-up which led them to miss another chance to recognize each other.
Fortunately, he had secured a third and fourth chance for himself.
Though the process was rugged, the outcome was perfect, and that was enough.
It proved that all that had gone before was worth it.
