Dove
I woke up at 7am in my own bed, in my own penthouse, and for the first time in my entire life I felt completely, stupidly content.
No roommates. No parents checking if I was awake. No anxiety humming under my skin about being alone. Just sunlight pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows and the quiet hum of New York outside.
I practically bounced out of bed. First night ever, and I didn't even have a nightmare. Take that, anxiety.
I padded straight to the bathroom, flipped on the warm lights, and did a full scrub down in the shower. Hot water, eucalyptus body wash, the whole ritual. I had time. The housewarming wasn't until this afternoon. Catering was coming at 3pm with the party planner, and the theme was a Y2K costume party, which meant I needed to look glowy and ridiculous in equal measure.
