"Touchdown!"
I screamed it with the rest of the stadium, my voice going hoarse as the receiver broke across the end zone. The whole place erupted. Seventy thousand people on their feet, stomping the metal bleachers so hard I felt it in my bones.
It was one of the most exciting games I'd ever watched. And probably the one that made me wince the most.
The tackles were brutal. Every time a linebacker came at Benecio, my hands flew up to cover my eyes. I couldn't watch. Then I'd force myself to look, because if he got up, I needed to see it.
He was a beast out there. Dodging tackles like they were standing still. Cutting across yard lines. And then that one play when he took the ball, put his head down, and sprinted straight for the end zone like nothing in this world could stop him.
The crowd lost their minds.
I did too.
