Chapter 353 - Chapter 353: The Inheritance Hall!

Spirit Transfer Pagoda, Deputy Tower Master Leng Yaozhu's office.

Gu Yue entered the office and said to Leng Yaozhu, "Teacher, everything is ready."

Hearing this, Leng Yaozhu stood up, a smile appearing on her delicate face. "Excellent. A'yun, Yue'er, let's go."

With that, she strode gracefully toward the elevator, with Jing Shaoyu immediately following behind her, his heart brimming with anticipation.

They were finally about to enter the Spirit Transfer Pagoda's Inheritance Hall. Just a few days ago, he had seen the treasure vault of Shrek Academy, and now he was about to witness the heritage of the Spirit Transfer Pagoda. Any single item here would be an incredible opportunity that outsiders could only envy!

He wondered how the treasures in the Spirit Transfer Pagoda's Inheritance Hall compared to those in the Inner Academy's vault of Shrek Academy.

Although the Spirit Transfer Pagoda had only been established for ten thousand years—far less than Shrek Academy's twenty-thousand-year history—it controlled the Soul Spirit system and the Star Dou Great Forest!

As the saying goes, "The moon is first seen from the nearest pavilion." Jing Shaoyu believed that even if the number of treasures in the Spirit Transfer Pagoda's Inheritance Hall couldn't match Shrek Academy's, the difference wouldn't be too great.

Leng Yaozhu led her two disciples a thousand meters underground, passing through multiple security checkpoints before finally arriving at an extraordinary hall.

The hall was as large as five Spirit Ice Plazas combined, circular in shape, with a floor seemingly carved from a single massive metal slab—seamless and as if crafted by divine hands.

The hall was completely empty, save for a hexagram pattern drawn in the center with an unknown substance, resembling a Martial Soul Awakening Array. Mystical and profound energy emanated from it, accompanied by a deep, heavy pulse of power.

Three elderly men sat cross-legged in a triangular formation outside the array, their eyes closed. Even as Leng Yaozhu approached them, they remained motionless, showing no reaction.

Were it not for the faint life energy Jing Shaoyu could sense emanating from them, he would have thought the three elders were already dead.

Leng Yaozhu bowed slightly to the three elders, as a junior would to their seniors, then turned and beckoned to Jing Shaoyu and Gu Yue.

The two immediately stepped to her side.

"Stand in the center of the hexagram array, hold hands, close your eyes, and attune yourselves to the energy fluctuations around you," Leng Yaozhu instructed.

Following her directions, Jing Shaoyu and Gu Yue moved to the center of the hexagram, clasped hands, closed their eyes, and relaxed their minds, carefully sensing the energy flowing through the surrounding air.

Leng Yaozhu flicked her wrist, sending streaks of golden-red Soul Power flying toward the six points of the hexagram.

In an instant, a blinding white light erupted, flooding the entire hall in the blink of an eye. Every corner was bathed in radiant whiteness, leaving no space untouched.

Jing Shaoyu felt a wave of hazy dizziness wash over him, his hands instinctively tightening around Gu Yue's delicate, boneless fingers.

A few seconds later, all the strange phenomena vanished. Jing Shaoyu slowly opened his eyes to find the scenery completely transformed.

The circular hall was gone. Instead, his vision was filled with lush green vegetation, a clear blue sky, and untethered white clouds drifting freely.

Jing Shaoyu was momentarily stunned. He had expected the Inheritance Hall to be a grand palace or at the very least a pagoda, but to his surprise, it turned out to be a virtual world similar to the Spirit Ascension Platform.

This was very much in line with the Spirit Transfer Pagoda's style.

"Yue'er?" Jing Shaoyu quickly regained his composure and thought of Gu Yue, who had entered alongside him. Instinctively, he reached out beside him.

Gu Yue was seated cross-legged on the ground, her hands moving swiftly in front of her. A peculiar energy emanated from her palms, rapidly dispersing in all directions like invisible chains.

Jing Shaoyu froze. He faintly sensed that Gu Yue was doing something questionable—yet beneficial to him—so he chose to remain silent, standing quietly by her side to guard her.

A soft melody echoed through the tranquil world. Jing Shaoyu looked up and saw streaks of meteors streaking across the distant sky, each trailing long, colorful tails that reflected their unique characteristics.

Steadying his mind, Jing Shaoyu focused his gaze and realized that these meteors were actually Soul Rings, Soul Bones, and Soul Spirits!

A surge of joy flashed across his face. According to Leng Yaozhu's teachings, all he needed to do was release his Martial Soul and Soul Power to attract the Soul Rings, Soul Bones, or Soul Spirits that suited him.

However, Jing Shaoyu didn't rush to summon his Martial Soul or Soul Power. He waited for Gu Yue.

The aura radiating from Gu Yue grew increasingly refined, her fluctuations steadier.

After about a quarter of an hour, Gu Yue's movements gradually slowed, and the peculiar energy she had been emitting began to recede until everything returned to calm.

Gu Yue opened her eyes, a brilliant light flashing within them. It was clear that she was brimming with delight.

"A'yun, do you want a Soul Bone, a Soul Spirit, or a Soul Ring?" She stood up directly, her bright eyes fixed on Jing Shaoyu as she asked softly.

"A Soul Bone," Jing Shaoyu replied. He didn't question her earlier actions—there was no need, and she wouldn't have told him anyway.

"Good!" Gu Yue's tone was light and cheerful. She raised her jade-like hand and swept it gracefully above her head.

In the next moment, Jing Shaoyu was astonished to see the previously chaotic meteors in the sky suddenly align in perfect order, arranged in neat rows like a disciplined army.

Gu Yue flicked her hand downward, and the meteors instantly shot toward her and Jing Shaoyu.

Jing Shaoyu's mouth fell open in shock. Now he understood—Gu Yue's earlier actions had been to seize control of the Inheritance Hall!

How audacious! If this were discovered, even Leng Yaozhu might not be able to smooth things over, Jing Shaoyu thought to himself.

Still, he trusted that Gu Yue wouldn't act so boldly without absolute confidence. After all, the sacrifices she had made to infiltrate humanity and the Spirit Transfer Pagoda were no small matter—she wouldn't act recklessly or carelessly.

A considerable number of meteors soon arrived before them, hovering midair. They emitted varying degrees of light—some soft, some intense, some dim—while their Soul Power fluctuations ranged from strong to weak. The sources of these radiant meteors were none other than pieces of Soul Bones.

"A'yun, all the Soul Bones here are now before you. Take your time and see if there's one you desire," Gu Yue suggested gently, her gaze warm as she looked at Jing Shaoyu.

"Alright, then I won't hold back!" Jing Shaoyu nodded, a bright and cheerful smile spreading across his face.

Before them lay a multitude of Soul Bone meteors, easily distinguishable into two categories based on their aura fluctuations: Ferocious Beast Soul Bones and non-Ferocious Beast Soul Bones.

Naturally, Jing Shaoyu prioritized the Ferocious Beast Soul Bones.

There were seventeen Ferocious Beast Soul Bones in total: one skull, three left leg bones, and two right leg bones.

In terms of sheer quantity of Ferocious Beast Soul Bones, the Spirit Transfer Pagoda indeed couldn't compare to Shrek Academy—an expected outcome.

The only Ferocious Beast skull was an Evil Eye Tyrant Skull. As a legendary race that once dominated the Sun Moon Continent, the Evil Eye Tyrant lineage exclusively produced head-type Soul Bones.

Ten thousand years ago, after the second-ranked Ferocious Beast on the continent, the Evil Eye Tyrant Sovereign—the Evil Emperor—was slain by Huo Yuhao, the Evil Eye Tyrant race began its decline.

This particular Evil Eye Tyrant Skull belonged to the Dark Evil Tyrant, the new patriarch of the Evil Eye Tyrant race and the eldest son of the Evil Emperor, with a cultivation of three hundred thousand years.

It died seven thousand years ago at the hands of a former master of the Spirit Transfer Pagoda. Within a century of its death, the Evil Eye Tyrant race was completely eradicated from the Douluo Continent.

This Evil Eye Tyrant Skull, also known as the Dark Evil Tyrant Skull, was a dual-attribute Soul Bone of darkness and spirit, possessing two Soul Skills: Evil Eye Gaze Ray and Darkness Light.

The Evil Eye Gaze Ray, as expected, was the signature Soul Skill of the Evil Eye Tyrant—a mental-type offensive ability.

Darkness Light, on the other hand, was a unique offensive Soul Skill of dark-attribute Evil Eye Tyrants, carrying the additional effect of inducing fear and paralysis in enemies.

Jing Shaoyu was quite interested in this skull, so he set it aside for further consideration.

The three left leg bones were the Silver Moon Wolf Emperor Left Leg Bone, the Crimson Demon Dragon Mastiff Left Leg Bone, and the Man-Faced Demon Spider Left Leg Bone.

The Silver Moon Wolf Emperor Left Leg Bone came from a two hundred thousand-year-old Silver Moon Wolf Emperor, inheriting its elemental affinity and speed. It possessed the Soul Skills Silver Moon Fury and Elemental Surge.

The Crimson Demon Dragon Mastiff Left Leg Bone originated from a two hundred thousand-year-old Crimson Demon Dragon Mastiff. The Crimson Demon Dragon Mastiff was one of the most powerful races in the Star Dou Great Forest, with its patriarch being one of the Ten Great Ferocious Beasts—the Three-Headed Crimson Demon Dog, the Red King!

The owner of this Crimson Demon Dragon Mastiff Left Leg Bone was one of Red King's siblings, slain by a Spirit Transfer Pagoda master five thousand years ago.

This Soul Bone had two Soul Skills: Crimson Mastiff Flame Fang, an offensive Soul Skill and one of the Crimson Demon Dragon Mastiff's proudest abilities; and Crimson Demon Hell, its most powerful offensive Soul Skill.

The Man-Faced Demon Spider Left Leg Bone came from a Man-Faced Spider Emperor that failed to transcend its heavenly tribulation. Though not a true Ferocious Beast, the mere name "Man-Faced Demon Spider" was enough to surprise Jing Shaoyu.

Who would have thought that a Soul Beast like the Man-Faced Demon Spider could reach Ferocious Beast-level strength? It was hard to say whether this Man-Faced Spider Emperor was lucky or unlucky.

On one hand, it was fortunate—after failing its heavenly tribulation, it happened to encounter a Super Douluo from the Spirit Transfer Pagoda and died instantly. On the other hand, it was unlucky—it had managed to evade the spider-slaying maniacs Bibi Dong and Tang San, surviving until eight thousand years ago.

One of the two Soul Skills of the Man-Faced Spider Emperor Left Leg Bone, Devouring Spear, inherited the Man-Faced Demon Spider's ability to devour essence and blood for its own use. The other, Face of Fear, was a control-type Soul Skill.

Though the origins of these three left leg bones were quite renowned, Jing Shaoyu wasn't particularly drawn to any of them.

He then turned his gaze to the two right leg bones.

The Sky Wind Kirin Emperor Right Leg Bone came from a 200,000-year-old Sky Wind Kirin Horse Emperor. This was a powerful Soul Beast with Kirin lineage, its attributes extremely close to the pinnacle of wind. A 200,000-year-old Sky Wind Kirin Horse Emperor was likely the strongest of its kind.

This right leg bone possessed two Soul Skills: Sky Wind Stomp and Kirin Wind.

Sky Wind Stomp—condensed tempests gathered at the feet before violently stomping down, unleashing a wide-range wind-element attack.

Kirin Wind—activated the Kirin bloodline, summoning the power of the Wind Kirin to greatly enhance one's speed and reflexes.

One for offense, one for enhancement—a very reasonable Soul Skill configuration. Just based on this, the Soul Bone was already quite impressive.

Jing Shaoyu set it aside, placing it together with the Evil Eye Tyrant Skull.

The Azure Shadow Divine Eagle Right Leg Bone came from a 200,000-year-old Azure Shadow Divine Eagle Emperor, also a wind-attribute Soul Bone. However, compared to the Sky Wind Kirin Emperor Right Leg Bone, the difference was night and day.

The Sky Wind Kirin Horse Emperor was a powerful Soul Beast with Kirin lineage, while the Azure Shadow Divine Eagle, though formidable, simply wasn't on the same level. If it had been an Emerald Demon Bird, Jing Shaoyu might have hesitated.

"Are you choosing these two Soul Bones?" Gu Yue watched as Jing Shaoyu set aside the Evil Eye Tyrant Skull and the Sky Wind Kirin Emperor Right Leg Bone, understanding his intentions as she asked.

With her knowledge, she could naturally discern the origins and quality of these two Soul Bones, a trace of approval flashing in her beautiful eyes.

"For now, these two," Jing Shaoyu replied without committing fully, smiling. "Yue'er, don't you want any Soul Bones?"

"No," Gu Yue shook her head. "I want a Soul Spirit."

"Then how about we look together?" Jing Shaoyu suggested.

"No," Gu Yue refused again. "You don't need to worry about me. Once you've made your choice, you can leave first."

"How could that be?" Jing Shaoyu immediately rejected the idea. "We came in together, so of course we should leave together."

"...Fine." Gu Yue gave him a long look before nodding. "Then summon Hong Fei and An Ya. I'll find them something to eat."

"What are you planning?" Jing Shaoyu was taken aback, instinctively warning, "Don't act recklessly! If anything happens to the Inheritance Hall, the higher-ups of the Spirit Transfer Pagoda won't let it go!"

Gu Yue rolled her eyes. "Relax, I know better than you. Just summon Hong Fei and An Ya properly."

"Alright then." Jing Shaoyu shrugged, spreading his hands before a flash of green light appeared behind him. A red bird and a golden unicorn materialized before them.

"Chirp chirp~"

"Master!"

The two Soul Spirits called out excitedly upon being summoned.

Jing Shaoyu nodded. "Yue'er is going to give you an opportunity. Hurry up and thank her."

Hearing this, Hong Fei immediately fluttered over to Gu Yue's shoulder, her soft feathers brushing against Gu Yue's cheek, making her giggle uncontrollably.

An Ya, on the other hand, was far more graceful, kneeling and bowing as she addressed Gu Yue. "Thank you, Mistress, for your generosity!"

Gu Yue's delicate face flushed slightly, while Jing Shaoyu mentally gave An Ya a big thumbs-up.

"Ahem!" Gu Yue cleared her throat. "Just wait a moment."

She raised her jade-like hand and waved it through the air once more, causing the Soul Bone to dissipate into streams of light and vanish. A new cluster of meteors streaked across the sky, landing near the two of them and their Soul Spirits.

These newly appeared meteors all contained red Soul Rings, differing only in the number of golden patterns inscribed upon them.

Every single one was a hundred-thousand-year Soul Ring, and all were traditional Soul Rings distinct from those of Soul Spirits. Thus, Jing Shaoyu saw not just one but multiple Ferocious Beast Soul Rings, each bearing either two or three golden patterns.

"Here, these Soul Rings are all yours. How many you can devour and absorb depends on your own fortune," Gu Yue said.

"Yue'er, this... thank you!" Shaoyu's first reaction was astonishment, followed by joy as he gazed at Gu Yue with eyes full of adoration.

"No need for thanks," Gu Yue replied with an indifferent expression, waving her hand dismissively. "Stay here and let your Soul Spirits absorb the Soul Rings. I'll go search for my own Soul Spirit."

With that, she turned and walked away. Seeing this, Shaoyu immediately prepared to follow her.

"Don't you dare follow me!" Gu Yue spun around and snapped coquettishly.

Shaoyu had no choice but to halt, watching as Gu Yue disappeared from his sight.
