By the side of the Dragon God's soul, Jing Shaoyu and Ye Xinglan stood, watching it.
At that moment, a low hum resonated, amplifying in an instant. The previously tranquil Dragon God's soul seemed to awaken abruptly, as if stimulated, letting out a resounding and majestic dragon roar that echoed throughout the entire Dragon Valley.
The Tang Sect fighters active in the valley were all shaken to their cores by this roar, collapsing to the ground. They witnessed how the once lively and wandering dragon souls now prostrated themselves, trembling in reverence. From them, they sensed overwhelming awe.
Within the Dragon Tomb, every skeletal remains of true dragons seemed to be roused by this roar. Each set of bones trembled faintly, struggling to rise and pay the highest respects and devotion to their god.
As for Jing Shaoyu and Ye Xinglan, who stood closest to the Dragon God's soul, they felt as though their very souls were about to be torn from their bodies by the force of the roar. Their bodies trembled involuntarily, compelled by an eerie power to submit.
Jing Shaoyu resisted this unknown force with all his might, standing tall and straight. The Endslayer Spear materialized in his hand almost instinctively, and he drove it forcefully into the ground, anchoring himself against the urge to kneel.
Beside him, Ye Xinglan clung tightly to Jing Shaoyu's arm, her body practically hanging onto his. As long as he remained standing, she refused to yield.
"You should not have come here."
After the dragon's roar, a cold yet melodious voice reached their ears. The two froze momentarily before turning toward the source. A silver-haired girl stood beside the Dragon God's soul, her violet eyes calmly observing them.
"Na'er?" Ye Xinglan's eyes widened in shock, her mouth agape. "Why are you here?"
Though the silver-haired girl wore a veil, her appearance, demeanor, and even the way she looked at Jing Shaoyu were identical to Na'er's—hence Ye Xinglan's astonishment.
But Jing Shaoyu knew she wasn't Na'er. She was Gu Yue!
Hearing Ye Xinglan's exclamation, Gu Yue said nothing. With a slight wave of her hand, an invisible force settled over Ye Xinglan, making her eyelids grow heavy before she succumbed to unconsciousness.
Jing Shaoyu caught Ye Xinglan in time, then turned to Gu Yue with a solemn expression. "You're Gu Yue, aren't you?"
Gu Yue's gaze flickered, her body tensing slightly. Instead of answering, she waved her hand again, summoning an unseen gust that sent both Jing Shaoyu and Ye Xinglan flying backward. Despite his efforts to stabilize himself and his Wings of Origin, Jing Shaoyu was pinned against the pit wall, completely immobilized.
"...Mmph!" Jing Shaoyu tried to speak, but an invisible force sealed his lips shut, rendering him unable to utter a word.
Gu Yue cast a calm glance at Jing Shaoyu before extending her right hand. Her palm expanded rapidly, pressing against the Dragon God's Divine Soul. In an instant, a radiant, multicolored halo enveloped her body as boundless, intense light surged from the Dragon God's soul, flooding toward her.
At the same time, faint multicolored glows began to emanate from Jing Shaoyu and Ye Xinglan, who were forcibly restrained against the pit walls. Though these radiances weren't exactly dim, they gave off a fragile impression, as if they might shatter at any moment.
"Don't blame me!"
Seeing this, a trace of softness flashed through Gu Yue's beautiful eyes, only to be replaced by determination in the next instant. She raised her hand again, and countless rainbow lights surged forth, enveloping Jing Shaoyu and Ye Xinglan. Then she pointed her left hand toward the sky, where a silver light immediately bloomed from her fingertip, transforming into a portal. The multicolored radiance carried the two figures into this silver gateway.
Shaoyu witnessed everything but could do nothing to stop it. From the spatial fluctuations emanating from the silver light, how could he not understand Gu Yue's intentions? He never expected her to be so resolute—preferring to let him doubt and resent her rather than allow his interference!
As the two were sent through the silver portal, the rainbow lights vanished and the gateway closed. Shaoyu immediately realized the force restraining him had disappeared, but by then, it seemed too late for anything.
The dragon pearl on Ye Xinglan's body shone brilliantly, instantly whisking her away. Meanwhile, the dragon pearl on his own body also flickered with light as spatial repulsion surged toward him from all directions. Watching himself about to be forcibly teleported away, he wondered—had he overestimated his place in Gu Yue's heart? Shaoyu nearly gave up struggling.
Then, the Apocalyptic Godslaying Spear abruptly appeared, landing in his palm. The next moment, Shaoyu felt his entire body relax as his footing vanished, sending him plummeting straight downward.
Without time to think, he quickly stabilized himself and landed firmly on the ground. Gazing at the tranquil spear in his hand, Shaoyu seemed to comprehend something. But now wasn't the time to dwell on it—he hurriedly looked up and saw this scene:
Gu Yue stood beneath the Dragon God's soul, absorbing the multicolored streams of radiant energy flowing from it. Her aura skyrocketed exponentially while the Dragon God's soul grew increasingly illusory, though its eyes burned brighter than ever.
Unaware that Shaoyu hadn't left, Gu Yue focused entirely on absorbing the Dragon God's essence, her body trembling with excitement as she released a clarion draconic roar. In the next instant, the young girl transformed into a silver dragon towering a thousand meters high, its scales tattered as if bearing grievous wounds.
As she assumed this draconic form, the rainbow lights intensified while the Dragon God's soul faded further. At its heart, two diamond-shaped crystals materialized—one gold, one silver—orbiting each other within a halo of multicolored radiance.
Above, countless dragon clouds appeared, filling every corner of the sky. Like moths to flame, they plunged toward the pit one after another, while true dragon souls descended like fire-chasing fireflies into this blazing chasm.
All dissolved into streams of multicolored energy, surging toward the colossal silver dragon's body.
The silver dragon's scales gradually mended as they continuously absorbed the vast seven-colored energy, developing a glossy ceramic-like sheen that made the healed scales resemble exquisite porcelain. The aura of the silver dragon grew increasingly powerful, causing the entire Dragon Valley to tremble.
Finally, when the last trace of the seven-colored radiance was absorbed, the silver dragon threw back her head and let out a resounding roar. The dragon's cry sent shockwaves through the miniature world of Dragon Valley, and the terrifying pressure caused the surrounding cliffs near the Dragon Tomb to collapse.
The massive dragon form slowly shrank, transforming back into human shape. Gu Yue landed gracefully before the two crystals. With a wave of her hand, the silver crystal floated into her palm, which she then pressed against her chest.
She reached out again for the golden crystal, but it abruptly shifted backward, evading her grasp. Shock and confusion flashed in Gu Yue's eyes as she tried once more to seize it, only for the golden crystal to elude her again. This time, she couldn't remain calm.
"Why?" she cried out in frustration. "Why won't you give yourself to me? If I can just absorb the Destruction Origin, then kill that Tang Wulin to obtain the Golden Dragon King's bloodline, I can restore the Dragon God to this world! Why won't you let me?"
As she voiced her questions, the golden crystal suddenly emitted seven-colored light once more, and the vanished Dragon God's Divine Soul reappeared before her. Though more ethereal than before, its draconic eyes now held a glimmer of wisdom.
In response to Gu Yue's demands, the Dragon God's Divine Soul simply shook its head silently before lifting its gaze to look behind her. Sensing something, Gu Yue whirled around—and her pupils contracted violently as her face twisted with terror, fear, and panic, as if she'd glimpsed her own mortality.
There, where the Divine Soul's gaze had fallen, stood Jing Shaoyu holding the Apocalyptic Godslayer Spear, his expression complex as he watched her. Clearly, he had witnessed everything.
Gu Yue couldn't comprehend why her spatial teleportation had failed, but she couldn't bear to meet Jing Shaoyu's eyes either. Abandoning all thought of the golden Destruction Origin, she fired a silver beam wreathed in seven-colored light at Jing Shaoyu while stepping into the void and vanishing instantly.
The Destruction Origin could be retrieved later—but she needed to fabricate an alibi immediately!
At the edge of the Dragon Valley's miniature world, the massive spatial rift in the sky trembled violently.
"We can't hold on much longer! The pressure from the world's laws keeps increasing—what should we do, Oldest?" the bald Bear Lord asked Di Tian.
"Hmph!" Di Tian snorted coldly. "We hold regardless! Even if it costs us our lives, we must endure! Can't you feel it? Our Lady has found that place—the dragon's roar earlier carried the Dragon God's aura!"
"That's what our Lady has been searching for! When the Dragon God fell, His Divine Soul returned with the remains of our kin to this resting place of dragons! Do you understand what this means? It means if our Lady finds Him, our beast soul race will be saved!"
"Stay focused! Hold the line!"
At that moment, silver light flashed as Gu Yue appeared above their heads. With a slight tilt of her chin and a slow raise of her hand, the rift in the sky instantly expanded several times over, splitting the heavens asunder.
"Go!" Gu Yue commanded coldly. In the next instant, she transformed into a silver meteor and vanished into the spatial rift. Di Tian, leading the six great soul beasts, let out excited roars before soaring into the sky as streaks of light, following closely behind.
After their departure, the Dragon Valley pocket dimension trembled slightly as the massive spatial rift finally began to close. That Gu Yue would flee in such disarray was something Jing Shaoyu hadn't anticipated.
Watching the shimmering silver radiance she left behind descend upon him, a spatial fluctuation immediately spread out. In the next second, it would transport him out of this pocket dimension.
But as Jing Shaoyu gazed at the Dragon God's soul staring intently at him, an impulse struck. Almost as if possessed, he dispersed the silver light. Though the Dragon God's soul had an unsettling gaze, his intuition told him it bore no ill will.
Sure enough, the next moment, the Dragon God's soul spoke.
Yes, spoke.
"Hmm, the aura of an old friend," came a voice steeped in the vicissitudes of time, carrying the weight of epochs and the turning of ages.
Jing Shaoyu's eyes widened in shock. "Y-you can speak! You're the Dragon God?"
The Dragon God's soul didn't answer, only continued to stare at Jing Shaoyu—more precisely, at the Apocalyptic Godslaying Spear in his hand. Its eyes shimmered with light, as if contemplating something.
"According to the Divine Pact, I can suppress her," a cold voice abruptly spoke from within Jing Shaoyu. His eyes widened further as he saw purple light emanating from the spear before a figure materialized in the sky before him, facing the Dragon God's soul.
The figure was a young man clad in a purple cloak, exuding an austere and solemn presence that forbade any frivolity. With hands clasped behind his back, he regarded the dragon soul with stern eyes.
Jing Shaoyu stared blankly at this figure that had emerged from him, his mind foggy and confused.
"Heh, so that's why I refused her," the Dragon God's soul laughed heartily.
"Give it to me," the young man extended his hand.
"Very well." The Dragon God's soul didn't refuse. A golden crystal floated out from within it and landed in the man's palm. As his fingers closed, purple mist swirled, and the crystal vanished.
"Prepare a Soul Bone for him," the young man added, pointing at Jing Shaoyu below.
"Agreed," the Dragon God's soul acquiesced again, but with a condition, "provided he does something for me."
"Done." The young man agreed without even consulting Jing Shaoyu.
Jing Shaoyu was dumbfounded. Wait, couldn't they at least respect him enough to ask? He hadn't agreed yet! Shouldn't they at least explain what this "something" was?
"Hold on!" he shouted. "Can I at least know what it is?"
"Ha, no need to be nervous, young man." The Dragon God's soul laughed heartily. "I won't ask you to do anything beyond your capabilities. When you came, you must have seen the dragon bones outside. They were all my children. As an irresponsible elder, I wish to let them rest in peace."
Jing Shaoyu's expression shifted slightly. "So, you want me to bury those dragon bones?"
"Exactly." The Dragon God's soul nodded, while the young man beside him remained silent.
"Alright, I agree," Jing Shaoyu replied.
Hearing his words, the Dragon God's soul and the young man exchanged glances before nodding at each other. The young man then said, "Goodbye."
As his voice faded, his figure began to blur. Seeing this, Jing Shaoyu quickly called out to stop him, but the young man gave no opportunity—vanishing in the blink of an eye, leaving only the faint purple glow of the Terminus Godslaying Spear behind.
Jing Shaoyu was speechless. Judging by the young man's appearance and behavior, he was almost certainly the God of Destruction. He was deeply puzzled—why would the God of Destruction emerge from within him? Could it be that he, too, harbored a God King's Divine Sense? Did that make him another Tang Wulin?
Too many unanswered questions swirled in his mind, but he felt no urgency. He had a premonition that he would meet the God of Destruction again.
"Young man, stop spacing out." A massive dragon head appeared before Jing Shaoyu, its large eyes studying him with interest.
Jing Shaoyu looked at the dragon soul and asked, "Are you the Dragon God?"
"What if I am? What if I'm not? Right now, I'm just an old dragon." The Dragon God's soul sighed wistfully. "Go on, help me bury my kin. If you get tired, you can come back and talk to me."
"Old Dragon, I have a question," Jing Shaoyu said, not leaving immediately but instead wearing a curious expression. "Why didn't you want to give that golden crystal to Gu Yue?"
"Gu Yue?" The old dragon paused, then a look of realization dawned in his eyes. He chuckled. "So that's what she calls herself now? Hmm, not bad."
"You still haven't answered my question," Jing Shaoyu pressed.
The old dragon fell silent for a moment before replying, "If you hadn't been here, I would have given it to her."
"Ah!" Jing Shaoyu's expression froze as he immediately understood. Without another word, he turned and walked away, not wanting to overstay his welcome.
With a leap, he vaulted out of the pit where the Dragon God's soul resided and returned to the Dragon Graveyard. Gazing at the endless expanse of dragon bones, he steadied his mind and summoned his Primordial Spirit Martial Soul. Raising his hands, murky earth-element energy swirled from his palms and settled onto the ground.
The earth trembled around him, dust rising as the soil split open, burying the nearby dragon bones. Yet, despite the commotion, only one set of bones was covered. In this graveyard, there were still tens of thousands more of similar size.
At last, Jing Shaoyu understood why Tang Wulin had been stuck in this valley for three whole years. Even with his earth-element abilities, the task felt exhausting. If Wulin had done it all by hand, no wonder it had taken so long.
However, since he had already promised the old dragon, he would never go back on his word. Moreover, it wasn't like he was working for free—there was still the Soul Bone to consider. This was a Soul Bone personally requested for him by the God of Destruction, and at the very least, it should be of the same quality as the Mountain Dragon King's torso bone!
He moved toward the next dragon skeleton and repeated the earlier process of burying it. Aside from consuming physical strength, this task also drained his Soul Power and elemental energy.
Perhaps due to the Dragon God's dragon soul, Jing Shaoyu was no longer suppressed by the rules of the Dragon Valley's miniature world. Apart from his Martial Soul, his Soul Power could now be used normally, which was why he dared to agree to stay and bury the dragons.
After all, with the support of Soul Power, burying dragon bones was relatively easier. At the very least, he wouldn't take three years to complete the task like Tang Wulin had.
At his current pace, he would finish this task within a year at most, then leave the Dragon Valley with the Soul Bone. The only downside was that Na'er, Xiaoyan, Duoduo, Xinglan, and Xiaomo would have to endure being separated from him for a year.
