Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 - Unforeseen circumstances

Nathan took advantage of his new agility stat and his trait 'Bunny Slayer' and barely managed to avoid fatal damage. The big bunny still hit him pretty hard, making him fly a few feet before he rolled onto the ground and into a tree.

"Gahhh! What the fuck are you?!"

He held his rib cage where it had hit the tree and felt a couple of broken bones.

'I need to get away from this thing, or I'm going to die, AGAIN!'

He got up in a hurry, ignoring the pain coursing through his whole body, and started to run, but the bunny followed, and it was much faster than Nathan. He frantically looked around for a way to escape, seeing no hope. The bunny would occasionally throw a few slashes, and Nathan barely avoided them, each causing some damage but not breaking any bones, which he was thankful for. Eventually, he saw a pack of wolves and decided to lure the bunny towards them.

The wolves smelled the blood on Nathan's clothes and, in a hungry frenzy, rushed him. When they were ten feet away, they realized it was something more powerful than prey, but it was too late; they were already in a full sprint. Nathan smirked, knowing he found a distraction for the bunny to buy some time.

Luckily, the bunny got stopped by the wolves, who were fighting back for their lives, knowing they couldn't escape the bunny. Nathan found some bushes to hide in, knowing his time is limited, the memory of the half still hanging out of its mouth.

'The only way I get out of this alive is by killing that thing. I HAVE NOTHING THOUGH!'

Nathan started fumbling through his belongings. He still had his dad's pocket knife, his phone, and the makeshift spear. After thinking for a long time, he heard the sounds of the battle stop. He started panicking, and then everything clicked.

'I GOT IT!'

He started working on the hastily put-together plan, and the bunny began tracking him down after it had enjoyed its meal.

Some time later, the bunny was about 150 feet away from him. He already had everything set up for his plan; now it's just time to execute it. He turned on his flashlight and set the alarm he had.

"Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna turn around and desert you. Never gonna.."

After he played it, the bunny sped to its location, but Nathan was already long gone. With his new agility, he quickly sped away, prepping for phase two. He quickly ran to one, picked up another spear, and hurled it at the rabbit, but it didn't land anywhere vital and didn't go very deep. The spear is connected to its foot. To the rabbit, it felt like a splinter. It also wasn't smart enough to realize someone was throwing them at it, so it started looking down at its feet for the attacker, but they weren't there. Nathan was still on the move, chucking spears, getting closer and closer to getting better aim with them. After throwing the tenth one, a warm feeling could be felt in his head.

The next spear Nathan threw was on point; maybe the trait had a secret passive effect because he felt it was easier to aim this one. The spear pierced the bunny's hindquarters, and it screamed in pain. Nathan, realizing his chance, threw multiple spears in quick succession, each aimed at the legs, hoping to immobilize it like his strategy with the normal bunnies. After he used all his spears but one, he went for the kill, thinking he'd done the job, but the bunny just stayed still. The next moment, the bunny's fur stood on end, and it let out a deafening roar. The battle was all but over. Nathan saw a red aura envelop the bunny, and it began making wild, unpredictable movements. Nathan's plan failed. His heart raced.

'Does it have a stage 2 like in games?!?!'

His plan was crumbling apart in front of his eyes; he had to think of something quick. He had to resort to Plan B. It wasn't promising, and he might as well call it the suicide plan. He rushed the bunny. Fumbling around in his pocket, he grabbed the pocket knife. It was starting to get dull because of the many spears he made, but it was his only chance. He dodged the many attacks the bunny was wildly throwing and jumped on its back. It thrashed around to try to throw Nathan off, but he held his ground. He slowly climbed to its head, making sure he had a good grip with one hand before moving the other. Once he was on top of its head, he started stabbing its right eye repeatedly till it was a bloody pulp. The bunny reacting shook its head so hard that Nathan crashed to the ground. As soon as he was able to get up, he sprinted away, seizing the chance to get away, knowing the bunny needed time to recover, and so he did.

'What the fuck is that thing?! Even with all that, it's showing no signs of slowing down.'

Nathan did well to cause the amount of damage he did, but he stood no chance in his condition. After he found a safe spot behind a tree, he heard a really loud hum, and a searing pain roared through his head. Something big changed.
