Chapter 1 - Ch.I.

'Let's end it in Switzerland, Fiume. You're all I have, but I shouldn't be all you have'

"Fiume, I told you countless times that you can't be rude to the clients! We lose them because of you! Can't you just be kind to them?"

"Oh come on Joel, you can't be serious. He didn't even said hi when he stepped in."

"Maybe just do it like me? I just brushed it off and continued to do my job, as a professional should."

"Of course, of course.."

I rolled my eyes and let out a sigh, still doing what i was told to. Giving an injection to a hedgehog. Sounds ridiculous but it's pretty hard.

"If you done with that don't forget to go to the pharmacy. You told me to remind you."

"I know, quit it."

I put that living weapon back to it's place and took off my white cloak. That piece of cloth is more like a rag now but I sure do look like I do an important job in it. I don't even know how I got to this point but placing that down is my second most relieving thing. The first one is to get home.

Yet, I have to buy medicine too before that.

"Do you have my usual one Noah?

I step in the same pharmacy for the xth time, asking for the same thing for the xth time.

"You still use that? You aren't even look like you need it, man."

Noah, my friend from highschool and uni. I don't know how we get close, but the fact that he gives my medicine just makes things easier.

Back then, he was nothing much.

Me neither. We were both the victims of surviving school. He just...The typical person who becames succesful after his 20s. Now he even dyed his pitch black hair blond, which if you look at it close, suits for his brown eyes. Better than black. It somehow looks like he wants to show everyone the fact that he's different now.

Joel is also like that. She's my boss, but has anyone seen and owner of a veterinary clinic being in her early 30s? Now you did. When I finished school and looked for a job, she was the only one who accepted me without any experience with animals. Though, she maybe made a mistake here. We both can be pretty clumsy, and that I'm even inexperienced...The worst. I first started of just as her 'helper', but over the years I quickly rose in the ranks. Given she doesn't really has the budget to hire any more personel. She makes sure everyday to let me know that she likes people just as much as animals, and that she's happy to have me working there. I whish I could say the same, but sadly, no. This was the last resort for me.

"I think I know that better than you. I have this from birth, Noah."

"Sure you do. Back then it was even worse. Now, here's your Risperdal. Once a day, after breakfast. You know the rules."

"Thanks, man. You saved me with this."

I chukle faintly and take the meds as I'm finally able to go home. I take the turn in the next street and approach the old building with no lights on. I live on the 3rd, which is a pretty bothersome thing without any elavator to use.

"I'm home Theo. How was your day? You weren't cold right? The heater was off."

I put down my scarf and coat and see him rushing to me with the same exitment as always. He's like a dog waiting for it's owner, but I can't deny either that I'm happy to see him. It's always like the reward for the rough day.

"Fiume!! You're home!!"

Avoiding my questions he jumps into my arms, throwing his whole body at me. He knows maybe too well that I'll catch him.

"Careful there, Theo. Once we even fell when you did this."

I smile faintly and caress his hair, holding him thightly. Whenever it's just the two of us, the whole world changes for me. It's like nothing else matters, but to be with him. Even arriving home makes me a completly different person. I can't be rude or mean to him like to others. I don't even have the thoughts to do so.

"Mhh, I know, I know! But I can't help! How was work?"

He tilts his head to the side, lifting it slightly to meet my gaze. I look down on him with the same smile as before, just a bit more wide this time.

"Didn't I also ask you this before? Well, I had a long day though. I had to deal with a hedgehog, examine dogs...Very tiring, really. Today was also the day I needed to buy my medicine and came home later because of it."

I say it with a sigh and look carefully at his eager, listening expression. He couldn't deny it even if he wanted to that he's interested in everything about me.

"Really? A hedgehog? Wasn't it hard?"

"Hmm, just a bit. But I didn't get pricked thankfully. What about you? Were you fine by yourself?"

I watch as his eyes light up at my question, here comes his favourite part: telling me his day.

"Oh, I was! Today, I made cookies and went out shopping! I bought this t-shirt and some flowers for you. I also took out Boris for a walk, but I got strange looks! No one seen a person walking a cat before? Tsk, how rude to stare!"

He rolled his eyes in frustration and huffed.

A real chatterbox with whom everything happens.

"Is that so? I agree. Boris needs walks too. And thank you for the flowers. Chrysanthemum, right? My favourite. Let's watch some TV now and eat your 5 star cookies after I wash my hands."

I smile sweetly without me noticing this because I can't help it in reality. Watching his gentle features and his soft, pale skin... His eyes, that sparks like life has never been hard for anyone, and just as a forest, you get lost in it's greeness. His hair is also expectional. It looks like a common brown, but it changes when I wake up and stare at it for long moments. It's as if the sun knows it's job and illuminates the loose strands and puts it in a golden frame.

Every little detail of him is the complete opposite of mine. I have a black hair which is not like the other's that it's majestic, but more like a raven's. I grew it out as well because i was too lazy to go to a barber, and now I wear it with a hair tie. My eyes despite being blue, it's more like gray sometimes. I even got asked if I was blind or have a problem with it. So none of my traits are even at the footsteps of his.

As my thoughts wabdered of, he quickly prepared some cookies, a cozy blanket and a romantic movie. Despite me warning him not to do so, he jumps into the mountain of pillows on the couch once again.

"C'mon Fifi, this movie just came out, I can't wait to see it!"

Fifi. Such a cutesy name for someone like me. But from his lips, spoken by his voice, I fall in love with it and think I really am his Fifi.

His one and only Fifi.

"Okay, calm down. I'm here."

I snuggle up beside him, leaning my head on his shoulder heavily, and suddenly I see clearly. My burdens and all of my responsibilities are gone, and it's only him and I from now on.
