Arthur watched Jasmine's face cycle through emotions like a storm breaking against cliffs.
Her face went through the phases of shock, denial and rage.
Her golden eyes darted between the fading vision and the mercury guardian, as if trying to reconcile what she'd witnessed with something else entirely.
"Wait." Her voice was barely a whisper.
"I remember the cave. I remember mother's tears, her stories about father's betrayal by the nobles."
She's processing. Trying to make sense of conflicting memories.
"But Nikolas..." Jasmine pressed her palms against her temples, wincing as if in physical pain.
"I don't remember him being there. Not like this."
Arthur's eyes caught the subtle signs of distress Jasmine was going through, the way her breathing quickened, how her grip on the legendary staff tightened.
Something's wrong with her memories.
"I remember everything else," she continued.
