With exhaustion driving across the lone myriad's face, and the impending doom of being wiped out if he failed to open the gate for them to escape, he braced and steeled his body with each step, feeling excruciating pain. Yet, he did not give up.
His eyes opened wide; his laborious breathing continued as he gasped for more air. Terror and anxiety filled his face, eyes narrowing downward, and his lips curling into that of sadness and shock. Hands and body shaking, yet with a firm grasp on his sword.
Above him were two ghouls, one unarmed and one with a bow. The ghoul nocked an arrow. The lone myriad saw this and waited for the right moment. When the ghoul let go of the bow, the lone myriad jumped to the side.
