Chapter 74 - Bad Timing, Honest Timing

Nothing happened in the workshop for about eleven seconds after the shirt was mentioned. Jia ate a pastry, Wren watched the window, and Yenna set the treatment kit down on the bench with more care than the bench required.

"The freight yard," Yenna said, "start with the freight yard, since that is the part with money attached to it."

Jia gave the report properly, which was the correct choice and the only generous thing available to her. Eleven crates out at the third hour, all of them light, all of them signed off by a clerk who left through a side gate afterward.

"They moved the real cargo before I got there," she said, "or they moved it somewhere I was not watching, which is the same sentence with my name in it."

"Where were you watching from," Vell asked.

"The mill roof," Jia answered, "eight hours in rain, which is why I am wearing this instead of the thing I arrived in."
