Chapter 82 - Those who care

As Izuku continues to push himself beyond what is necessary, Kaina takes time to relax before her operation.

Seeing all the children playing with each other, she can't help but smile. If a few months ago someone had told her that a massive ice dragon would save her and give her the chance to right all the wrongs she committed for the HPSC, she would have blown their head off.

Yet seeing the smiling faces below made it all worth it. She still couldn't help but worry about the children, so with permission, she'd recently reached out to Nezu, hoping that he would take in the children. He'd agreed, of course, Nezu had always had a soft spot for children in need.

Leaving the children behind to play, Kaina made her way to the medical wing after being called for. Entering the sterile room, she shivered in the cold as she glanced at the two beds before her; one was empty, the other occupied by Arsenal, restrained and furious.

"Right on time, let's get this over with." A voice said as Nine entered the room. "How's the crew?" Kaina asked as she lay down on top of the other bed. Nine shrugged. "A bit depressed after watching Avalanche get killed, but they've been too busy adapting to their new quirks to worry about anything else." He went over to Arsenal and removed her gag.

"Any last requests, Arsenal?" He asked as the fire in her eyes faded, she thought for a moment. "When you kill me, make it quick. Bury me with my family." She said, voice hoarse after years of disuse, as Nine nodded. He then placed a hand on her head, and his other on Kaina's head as he started to process of transferring her quirk, he would be here for a while.

Admiral Jena frowned as he glared at the radar. "Get me a line to command." He ordered as the blips on the radar increased.

"This had better be important, Admiral. We just started our meeting." The voice said over the line as Jean felt a bead of sweat trail down his temple. "Sir, 682 has stopped 2,500 miles off the coast of Japan. Several other assets in the area have confirmed that 682 is fighting something under the water." A moment of silence as the person on the other side of the phone discussed this revelation.

"Continue to observe, report what it's fighting. We will send more units to you to assist in this endeavor. Civilians will be diverted, but you have to deal with the military." Jean nodded, "Yes, sir." Then hung up as he shouted orders, bringing the fleet in to see what could fight the hard-to-destroy lizard.

Beneath the waves, 682 screams in impotent fury as it is swarmed by dragons. 'Vile creatures! How dare you impede my arrival!' It raged in the water, throwing Seawings off of it as it felt claws and teeth sink into its flesh.

For thousands of miles, he had been umobtructed, not by humans, not by other creatures, nothing but water. Yet upon reaching a distance from the next landmass, he'd been attacked by a group of four sea dragons. The strange creatures had caused some damage, but had been torn to shreds regardless.

Things got worse after, more groups of dragons, and now a larger group was here, impeding his progress. A few had been torn to bloody ribbons, but the others had gotten wise to his tricks and had started to wear him down as the human Foundation started to close in.

Feeling the vibrations of their submarines, some of the dragons left to go deal with them as more arrived with thick chains, their objective clear as Atanti screamed in frustration.

As Izuku started to push those helping him away, and Atanti fought Seawings, you may wonder what happened to the body of Avalanche, the Icewing? Well, his body had been taken by AFO and Tomura when they'd left behind the destroyed city of Jaku, and after freeing hundreds of villains, AFO personally broke Dr. Ujiko out of prison to see his old friend one final time.

"Please rest, Master! I can still salvage this body; it's not yet too late." Ujiko busied himself as AFO lay on the gurney, writhing in pain. Despite his showing of force that helped finally kill Carter, he was only able to use the strange magic once, and at great cost to his body.

Between the bloody hole in his chest and the curse from using forbidden magic, his body was on the verge of total collapse. As the seizing stopped, he reached out and grabbed Ujiko's shoulder, stopping his frantic movements. "There is nothing you can do, Doctor. This vessel is no longer suitable for me. Besides, now you can focus on the Nomu and finish working on Tomura's body. He'll need it to face that woman, especially after killing her son."

Ujiko looked terrified at the idea of AFO finally dying after so many decades together, but deep down, he knew it was over. "Would you like anything to numb the pain?" He finally squeezed out as AFO smiled and winced. "Yes, and bring out that bottle that we've been saving. I want to enjoy my final moments. Call in Tomura as well."

Ujiko nodded, calling in Tomura and the others as requested before going and bringing out a bottle of wine that they had been saving for decades, meant to be opened after AFO finally reclaimed OFA. As the drugs and alcohol set in, numbing the pain as another seizure wracked his body, AFO delivered his final verdict.

"I am dying." He declared, as everyone looked surprised, except Ujiko and Tomura.

"Tomura will lead you without my guidance from now on. I know he will end the reign of heroes just like we've been planning. A word of caution, despite Carter not having any contacts other than that woman, Avalanche did. Beware his allies, as they may decide to retaliate upon my death, sensing weakness.

Tomura, be sure to make use of Overhaul and his quirk, remake your body to be as strong as possible to face that woman, OFA will come to us himself. Use him to perfect the Nomu as well; they will be useful.

Keep an eye on any villains that can be of use. Arsenal is a good example of-" AFO stopped as a signal far away reached him, "Arsenal is dead." The others were surprised, but ultimately did not care about what happened to that strange woman.

AFO continued to lay out what they were to do as his body underwent rapid change, from seizing to swelling with unnatural black and red veins writhing under his skin as the price of spell-breaking magic reared its head. Finally, he sent them away as AFO spent his final moments with Ujiko.

As for Avalanche's body? When Ujiko had tried to activate the brain stem to see if he could use the body for Nomu material, the body started to writhe and spasm as red marks appeared to sear themselves on his scales, burning through flesh as Avalanche turned into a pile of ash.

A week later, Izuku grimaces as his classmates finally track him down and try to put a stop to his work.
