"No buts," Julie interrupted, her voice sharp. "I don't want to hear his name again. I don't want to see him. I don't want anything to do with him." She leaned forward, her eyes burning with finality. "My daughter and I are done with him. Forever."
The officer nodded, swallowing hard. "Understood, ma'am. But if something happens to him—"
"I don't care," Julie cut in, her voice icy. "He's nothing to us now. Less than nothing." She stood up, her chin lifted, her posture unyielding.
"And if you bother us again, for any reason, I'll sue this department for harassment." She paused, her gaze locking onto his. "We're leaving for America in a few days. Don't contact us."
The officer exhaled, nodding as he stamped the documents. "Yes, ma'am. I'll make sure it's filed."
"Ma'am..." he said, glancing at me. "We're shifting Elyas to the central jail. It's got a mental health facility, high security. He'll be evaluated there."
