Kald continued to charge his blade. It rippled with force, glowing brighter with each passing second.C'mon, c'mon, c'mon…!
Lea was still holding out, but she didn't have much force left.
Kald tensed. Just a little bit… just a little bit more… just—
He paused.
Lea slowed. It was only for a moment—but that was enough.
The demon's fist crashed into her face, knocking her to the ground.
It raised its arm to finish her off, she'd failed.
Kald hesitated. He had to strike now, he had to save Lea, but it was too soon, if the demon survived this hit… it'd be over.
He gritted his teeth. It doesn't matter… I'm not letting her die.
He stepped forward, blade ready—
But before he could attack, a figure loomed behind the demon. Sword raised.
Kald's eyes widened."Dalan!" he shouted in cheerful surprise.
Dalan grinned, then brought his sword down.
The demon went to turn but was too late—Dalan's blade sliced clean through its arm, lopping it off.
"Dalan!" Lea cried, her voice full of hope.
Dalan looked up at Kald."Let's do this—!"
But before he could finish, the demon leapt up, twisted midair, and drove its left foot into Dalan's face.
No one had time to react.
Dalan's skull crunched and his face was kicked clean off. Blood sprayed across the ground… and splattered onto Lea's cheek.
Dalan stood there for a moment, still. He tried to speak, but his lips were gone and it came out as an inaudible mumble.Chunks of torn flesh dangled from where his face had been. One eye bulged from its socket; the other was gone entirely, flung who knows where.
Then he fell again.
Kald and Lea froze.
What… what just happened? Kald thought. I let it happen again—I…
The demon turned toward Lea.
She didn't move. Her face was blank—paralyzed with horror.
Kald clenched his teeth, forcing back his tears.
He ran forward. "RAGHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
His voice cracked with anguish.
Sword rippling with energy, he swung it forward.
The blade crashed into the demon, a wave of force exploding out on impact creating a shockwave.
Once the dust settled, Kald looked up slowly to find his sword was embedded deep in the demon's chest.
But…
It wasn't enough.
The demon glared up at him and to his surprise two beady red eyes opened, they seemed to be in glee.
No…
It punched Kald in the chest. Kald heard the shattering of bones as he was launched off the cliff.
While he fell, he managed to whisper one final word—
"Run…"
Then he fell down into the shrubbery and trees below. Kald hit the ground hard, he let out a groan. Thankfully due to the force cast on his body he was just left dazed, not unconscious.
He slowly rose, his body ached but he didn't care.
"I have to get back to them."
"I have to-.."
Just then he heard something slam into the ground only about ten feet away from him. As Kald turned he saw the demon emerge from the smoke. The same joyfull expression on its face. Kald was suprised it followed him down but at the same time relived.
Now Lea and Erina can get away.
Kald then raised his sword, "You miss me?" he said attempting to mock the creature but its expression remained unchanged.
Then it spoke.
"You…Last... Others... gone..." It struggled to get the words out but nonethless it spoke, no wonder it was so powerful.
Kald's grip tightned on his blade.
"You're a terrible Liar." He said as he charged the monstrosity.
The demon let out what sounded to be a laugh before charging as well.
Kald thought back to the villiagers, he thought back to Dalan.
I'll keep my word, he thought.
NO MATTER WHAT... ILL KILL YOU!
