Boom!
The Kusagakure shinobi ignored the woman's desperate pleas and shut the door behind them as they left.
To them, the mother and daughter inside the house were nothing more than livestock—tools to be used at their convenience.
Their only value lay in their ability to rapidly heal injuries.
And if there ever came a day when they could no longer serve that purpose, they would be discarded without hesitation.
The Kusagakure shinobi had no intention of letting the mother and daughter leave the village.
After all, "an innocent man gets into trouble because of his wealth." With their unique constitution, if the shinobi from other villages discovered them, Kusagakure itself would be in grave danger.
...
The dimly lit hut was once again shrouded in darkness.
The air was damp and oppressive. The woman crouched on the ground, despair written all over her face.
A faint rustling sound came from behind her.
"Mother, please eat something."
A young girl pulled out a hard, stale bun from her tattered clothing, her eyes filled with worry.
She couldn't afford to lose her mother—she just couldn't!
Seeing the bun in the girl's outstretched hands, the woman forced a gentle smile despite her pallid complexion.
"Karin, you're still growing. You should eat it yourself."
Tears welled up in Karin's eyes. "Mom, I'm scared..."
"Please... don't leave me."
The woman embraced her daughter tightly, squeezing out a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry, Karin. I won't go down so easily."
Hearing her mother's words, Karin felt slightly at ease.
If she lost her mother in this place... she couldn't even begin to imagine what would happen to her.
Overwhelmed by exhaustion, she soon fell asleep in her mother's arms, her brows furrowed in distress.
In her sleep, she mumbled softly, "I don't want to stay here anymore... someone, please save me..."
"Mom... don't die..."
Listening to her daughter's sleep-talking, the woman let out a silent sigh.
Ever since the fall of Uzushiogakure, she had wandered from place to place before eventually seeking refuge in Kusagakure.
Thanks to her expertise in sealing techniques, the village had welcomed her and her daughter at first.
She had thought—hoped—that they could start a new life here.
But everything changed the day she saved a dying Kusagakure shinobi.
Once they discovered her ability to heal wounds with her chakra, the shinobi imprisoned both her and Karin.
At first, they only brought severely wounded ninjas for her to treat.
But as time passed, their demands became increasingly unreasonable.
Even for minor injuries, they would force her to heal them, relentlessly draining her chakra.
Her treatment worsened as well. Initially, they provided her with ample food—meat and vegetables—but eventually, she was reduced to eating thin porridge, wild greens, and stale buns.
The shinobi's justification was simple:
"Since healing costs life force anyway, feeding her well is just a waste of resources. As long as she has enough to survive, that's all that matters."
Her life force was already severely depleted. It wouldn't be long before she perished.
She longed for someone—anyone—to save them from this living hell.
But in this remote village, no one even knew of their suffering.
Now, all she could hope for was that when she was gone, Karin might still have a chance to survive.
After all, the Kusagakure shinobi wouldn't want to waste a valuable resource that could keep them alive.
...
A group of Kusagakure shinobi strolled through the village with smug expressions.
One of them rolled his shoulder, grinning. "She's incredible. Even after taking such a severe injury, I'm fully healed now."
"If it weren't for that woman, I'd be dead for sure."
Another shinobi hesitated before speaking. "Shouldn't we treat her a little better? Her face is so pale… I think she's close to death."
"Hmph! She's already running out of life force. Even if we give her better treatment now, it'd be a waste."
"Besides, her daughter is still there. If the mother dies, so be it."
The hesitant shinobi frowned. "But what if the little girl dies too? She'll be drained dry at this rate."
"She's such a useful tool… it'd be a shame to lose her."
At his words, the other two shinobi burst into laughter.
"Don't be so soft-hearted. The Uzumaki clan's vitality is far stronger than you think."
"And if we're worried about that, we'll just make sure she gives birth to a few more kids before she dies."
Seeing his comrades' confidence, the worried shinobi reluctantly nodded.
Just as they prepared to leave the village to hunt for food, an angry voice rang out behind them.
"You disgusting trash! How dare you do something so vile?!"
The three Kusagakure shinobi turned sharply, spotting a man and a young girl standing behind them.
Judging by the girl's furious expression, it was clear she had overheard their conversation.
"Who are you?" one of the shinobi demanded.
"What business do you have in Kusagakure?"
Without waiting for an answer, the three immediately drew their weapons and surrounded Uchiha Mirai and Ajisai.
Mirai remained motionless.
The shinobi exchanged glances, then fired a signal flare into the sky before charging at him from three directions.
"If you won't talk, then you'll die!"
Their attacks were ruthless and reckless, favoring brute force over finesse.
Against an ordinary shinobi, this sudden assault would have been deadly.
But they weren't facing just anyone.
They were up against Uchiha Mirai.
Before they even got close, Mirai drew his blade and gently placed a hand over Ajisai's eyes.
Then, with a single slash—
Shing!
The three Kusagakure shinobi were sliced clean in half.
Mirai didn't bother with the flamboyant swordsmanship typical of the Uchiha. He used the most direct, brutal method.
For trash like them, this was the only fitting end.
...
"Damn it! We're under attack!"
"Kill them!"
"Everyone, take them down!"
The Kusagakure shinobi rallied together. Nearly a hundred of them drew their weapons and charged toward Mirai.
"Hmph."
"How foolish."
Holding Ajisai's hand, Mirai strode toward the hut where Karin and her mother were imprisoned.
Any Kusagakure shinobi who stood in his way was cut down without hesitation.
As the bodies piled up, fear spread among the remaining shinobi.
Terrified, they threw down their weapons and turned to flee.
Mirai formed a single hand seal.
"Wood Release."
A massive tree erupted from the ground, and countless thorned vines shot forth, ensnaring the fleeing shinobi at breakneck speed.
Screams of agony filled the air.
Moments later, silence fell over Kusagakure.
The village was no more.
