Chapter 411 - Chapter 411

Chase was lying on his new metal bed as he threw up a rolled shirt and caught it, in the cell behind him, several prisoners had begun battling to the death, and Chase couldn't be happier to experience such a show in a place like this.

The skinny prisoner who had somehow snuck an entire flail into the prison, swinging viciously under the shadowy ceiling of his cell.

The skinnier prisoner on the other side of the fight, simply pointed his finger at the bigger prisoner and...

Chase watched with a look of disgust on his face as the entire head of the other prisoner simply imploded.

'Wow.' He thought, placing a brick back into its place on the wall, and blocking himself from seeing anymore inmate fights.

He looked down the glowing shackles around his wrists...

"But guys like that don't get their powers sealed away in here?" He frowned.

Suddenly, the prisoners began to get even more riled up, all focusing on from what Chase could hear... Escape...

One of the guards had apparently fallen asleep beside a cell, just close enough for the lankiest inmate to reach out and grab the keys from around his collar...

And now Chase, was listening as the inmates shanked and kicked that guard to death.

It was kind of ironic, how he had been the sole reason the inmates got the chance to escape, and yet... It was the captives he had freed who decided to kill him before they fled... Either way though, the guard was a Deadman, as who's to say that Phillip wouldn't remove his head the second he found out about the breakout...

Chase sighed, slowly pushing his cell door open...

The reeling of metal clinging to his ears like a plague...

And then... Breathing in the stench of death within the prison's hallway... Chase simply walked out...

...

He passed by several guards and twice as much nobility within scaling the Octagon, but it seemed that they were all so arrogant that there was simply no reality for them where Chase could just walk out of his own cell in the dead of night.

And suddenly, he was back in the streets of Seh Jenah... Walking through alleys with a hood pulled over his head, shackles around his wrist, and loose gray clothing that read 'Inmate X' as well as 'Priceless Cargo'...

Chase could only frown in shame as he tried to remember the route of the safehouse under this rainy moonlit night.

And apparently the sound singing as well, as a melody filled the air of the night time alley.

Chase halted, leaning against the wall a few meters behind a dumpster, where said voice was coming from, as glass suddenly shattered within said dumpster.

"Bah! No damn good..." A familiar voice complained, picking up something with a vast amount of liquid in it, popping the cork, and began to guzzle what could have probably been wine based off the smell.

Chase stayed silent, listening as he let the rain soak his clothing.

Suddenly the sad melody started to begin again.

"♪ Juliet... Do you want to know what I seen that day...

Something shining brightly or the reflection of the wrong way...

Only you could tell when you looked me in my face,

Shattered my heart as you spoke my name...

Had to say goodbye and leave me to gather...

All the broken pieces as you would rather...

Look me in the eyes and repeated the pattern...

But did it not hurt when he forced the hand after...?" The song that began and sounded with so much emotion and tone, suddenly lost all of it in the last line... Simply turning into nothing more than a basic question in which Chase could only guess the meaning of.

"Is it kingly to be seated within a dumpster strumming on a lute in the dead of night as alcohol is the only thing you've consumed for the last several days?" Chase tried not to laugh at Griffin, but it was quite hard as the bard lifted his head above the dumpster wall.

"You have got to be kidding me..." Griffin mumbled, lifting what had now been identified as wine and downing half of the red liquid in a single gulp.

Chase shook his head with a sigh.

"I'm guessing you didn't find the vault?" Griffin assumed, before letting out an unmannered burp.

"No, which you knew damn well I wouldn't considering you are the only person on the face of the earth who knows where it is..." Chase said in complete irritation.

"You would be correct. But is it so kingly that you be dressed as a captive of war, soaked and hooded as you travel the back alleys of a corrupted city in the dead of night? Trust me Chase, do you know how easy of a mugging target you are right now? Especially with those anti-magic shackles. I couldn't even imagine being in your predicament right now." Griffin continued to drag it on as long as he possibly could, leaving Chase the only option of ignorance as he simply waited for the bard to stop pestering him.

"You look like shit." Chase eventually said with honesty, crossing his arms as he let out another sigh.

"I-" Griffin stopped talking, only letting out what seemed like a shaky exhale as he narrowed his eyes and downed the remainder of the bottle.

"That bad?" Chase asked, letting his weight shift further against the wet brick wall.

Griffin tossed the bottle behind him, letting it shatter against the opposite wall of the dumpster.

His expression was that of an idiot, yet his eyes told the bitter story that Griffin would probably never tell.

He was in clear pain.

Chase obviously knew very little about where Griffin had been over the course of the last few weeks, only knowing that he seeks Juliet, daughter of Phillip and princess of the nation of three factions...

He also knew that Veximus played a major role in this story, but did not want to force Griffin to relay his troubled past once more... So, he simply shrugged.

"Griffin... Me and a group of people are going to raid the chambers of the Coliseum tomorrow night..." Chase decided to let Griffin know of the plan, whether he participated or not was up to him, although Chase greatly wished that he would aid him... Having easily sensed the energy capacity of Griffin within Olympia...

He was the strongest Bard Chase had ever even heard of... Being capable of fighting a Mimicked Leander head on...

Chase shivered.

Griffin was silent for a while, his face choosing to hide his emotions even better than before, so that Chase could not figure out whatever it was that he was trying to figure out himself.

Eventually he asked, "So ,then you plan to fight Callahan head on..." Griffin said instead of asked... His voice laced with a certain tone of dread.

Chase only gazed into the golden eyes of Griffin, almost trying to put together a puzzle that seemed almost impossible to solve.

"I'm afraid that you will find nothing but darkness in those chambers Chase... And it won't be the kind you like..."
